It’s funny how they want to blame “Travel Ball” for the arm problems but they don’t have “arm soreness” until they get to college.

I think it has something to do with it, but I also think they should not be pitching in summer and fall leagues also

Other than Gilbert. Everyone of our injured pitchers over the past few years have been freshmen, or injury started out their freshmen year(Storz). There is something there in that. What it is, I don't know. Are they not prepared for a college level pitching dedication. Are they overpitched in HS and Travel ball.

Had a cousin that played travelball since he got out of tee ball in Walker area. Had elbow and shoulder surgery while in high school. Never got back and had to give it up. I think it has something to do with it.

You sure? Let's go back to all the newspaper articles and coach interviews that were done with their travel ball coach to see if this was talked about. Oh wait....

Youth arm injuries o

A recent study by the Rush University Medical Center, the team doctors for the Chicago White Sox, found that by far, the biggest age group receiving Tommy John surgeries in the U.S. is now 15-19, with 57 percent of all surgeries performed falling within that age group

It’s not just a LSU problem. It’s a game of baseball problem. This year it is affecting LSU because they were relying on a few freshman to be key contributors on the mound.

Or they have arm soreness but the travel ball coaches don’t give a shite and convince them to pitch through it or they will risk their pro / college chances.

Then they get to pro / college with coaches that do give a shite and have access to an actual training staff and the soreness is dealt with instead of being ignored.

This is the decision that should be questioned.

We have to assume that the coaches are doing everything they can to keep the players healthy. It would be absurd to think they would intentionally put a kids future in jeopardy.

If you accept that, it doesn't mean you have to agree with everything the coaches do. It's reasonable to ask why the success of the season was so dependent on freshman pitchers. That's a roster planning/recruiting issue.

Ben McDonald hit the nail on the head. Kids back in the day played all sports. Kids today stick with just baseball and play it year around now. Not giving your muscles time to rest and heal. Hence all the problems now a days with pitchers.

That definitely happens but there are several multisport athletes on LSU's roster:

Nick Storz, Trent Vietmeier, Eric Walker, Drew Bianco, CJ Willis, Giovanni DiGiacomo, Saul Garza, Chris Reid, Cade Beloso, Matthew Beck, and probably more that I'm forgetting.

Do I need to go into detail here? Beck is the only other pitcher you listed that as far as I know didn't have arm issues. He may have had it at the end of his senior year or beginning of his freshman year but I can't remember.

Yes, please go into detail about how these guys who played multiple sports in high school but still fit your narrative about playing baseball year round.
