The stubbornness of some baseball posters on the Rant is hilarious. People get stuck in a mindset and won't change their position because they want to seem like they know more than everyone else. It's college baseball. It's not rocket science.

I see us hosting and winning a regional. My outlook on the super regional will depend on how we look in winning the regional and where we have to go.

I understand your point. Maybe it would make a small difference, but even if we won all of our midweek games and went 17-13 we would still be on the bubble. We would not be a host “lock”

Of course there would be a small difference in rankings, but i dont believe it should be expected that lsu win them all. They went, what, 9-5 in those games this year. I think a realistic expectation id 11-3ish

We would definitely be a host lock

That would be the difference of being a lock and on the bubble

If UCSB wins out I’d almost bet money they host. If nothing else than to spread it out geographically. There aren’t a lot of west coast teams in consideration to host.

That's what some of yall aren't understanding. There would definitely be a difference in our ranking had we not gotten our asses beaten in those midweek games, especially when they're to the likes of Southern, northwestern st, mcneese, ull and the blowout loss to LA tech. That's not good. We definitely would be ranked a couple spots higher than we are right now and that difference, no matter how small a spot or 2 may seem overall, can be the difference in LSU hosting or not. When you're one of the last teams being looked at to possibly host a regional every bit counts. 1 or 2 spots in the seeding/rankings can end up being the difference in whether you host or not when your in the position that we find ourselves in. I believe that's what The Boat is saying, and he's exactly right. I hope we come to play in hoover. We need wins to boost our resume. It sucks we are in this position, but frick it, it is what it is now. Geaux Tigers.

Yes. 2 rankings can be the difference in hosting or not hosting, but even if LSU has won all of their midweek games, we would still be having these same conversations about needing to beat SC in order to be sure of a host.

Damn fine work, HTT 10!

I can remember one year LSU didn't make the tournament and Mainieri said he was told by someone on the committee it was because our RPI was weaker than the teams who got in over us.

Then a few years later we didn't get in when our RPI was in the top 10 but Mainieri was told our record wasn't good enough. (I may have the order of those two years reversed.)

So, wtf knows what the committee will think is important this year?!?

Right. That's why there isn't a magic number of wins we need that anybody can name. We may be already locked in, based on some of our numbers, or we may pretty much be locked out, based on other categories. Nobody knows what will weigh heaviest with the committee.

Oregon St went 1-1 against Stanford this weekend. The game yesterday was rained out, and apparently they aren't playing a DH today.

Who makes up the selection committee that decides the host sites?

As long as it is not posters on the Tiger Rant, I think we should be ok.

Think this is the committee. Looks like tanner is still the chair which should bode well for us if its close.
And based on one of the committee’s members being the oregon st rep, even more reason to say they are a lock

Thanks for the info. Unless we lay a major egg on Tuesday I see no reason we shouldn’t host.
