I will say this: don't discount the fact that Knute Rockne is still very much a part of the tradition that Kelly brings with him. Even the young 5-star grasshoppers (or at least their parents) have heard of the Rockne folklore and/or The Four Horsemen. It's in play in the recruiting wars. (Oh yes it is.)
