Just need better players. Team plays very tight, just running ghost plays with no aim of scoring

What’s frustrating is though the team may not be very good, they should be better than they are playing. If you can keep up with Kansas St, Arky, and Kentucky then you sure as hell aren’t 20 points worse than UF and A&M.

ou realize that there isn't a formal hearing right?

There is a hearing for Will Wade. Shortly after that LSU could expect to see something transpire in terms of a final Notice or "verdict" if you will.

The NCAA cannot just do nothing after handing down a Notice of Allegations they have to either dismiss or bring forth penalties for the sanctions.

Would be absoloutely insurmoutnable for any coach.

Meh. The negative press surrounding the NOA was a problem last year and it definitely didn’t help the hiring process. Like the Title IX crap, you don’t want all of that negativity in the national sports press and news cycles around your program.

That said, who outside of LSU admin, staff and fans are talking about any of this now? No one cares. The media moved on a long time ago and will barely mention the NCAA’s decision when it comes out.

The NCAA’s last two independent basketball reviews resulted in lenient sanctions against the schools (NC State and Memphis) and the same will likely apply here. I doubt it will be an effective negative recruiting tool past this season and even that could likely be overcome with NIL if the department was spending on men’s hoops at the moment. Their attention seems to be elsewhere right now, but hopefully that will shift this off-season.

There is absolutely nothing insurmountable about the NCAA situation as far as the current team goes. It’s going to be an uphill climb for McMahon to re-establish things because the SEC has become a very strong basketball conference. But he doesn’t need excuses. He needs to hold this team together through the rest of the season, figure out who he can build with going forward, and hit the portal hard to improve for next season. Let’s be honest- McMahon also needs to look in the mirror and step up his game, too. He hasn’t been an SEC-level head coach this year, talent issues aside.

If he can’t do those things, it won’t be because of the NCAA and their “independent” review board (that they still steer and basically rubber stamp) taking their sweet time. It will be because he just isn’t cut out for big-time college basketball.
