Well, I won't be there since I live on the west coast. I don't know how it works now for basketball. Do students have to buy tickets like they do for football? When I was at LSU, for all sporting events all a student had to do was show their ID. Since I was in the band, I never had to worry about it for football but I did for basketball my first two years. I camped out for big games a couple of times.

so how does it work, basically?
there are only about 200 or 300 student seats in the lower section, used to be about 1000, if its a big game, get there an hour early to make sure you get to sit in the lower part, the upper deck sucks, nothing there for students, no chants or anything, in the lower section, you do the crumpled up newspaper thing, taunt the opposing team and coaches, its just plain fun.
Yeah, just bring your ID, they scan it.

All I know is that there is an entire section to the east side of the scoreboard that is "student tickets" in which students never sit in. If he think those could be sold for general admission and the students can continue to pack in the same section, who the hell cares?
I've come on the board and bitched about that empty section all year and posters came back with, "We were so packed in the other area that we didn't need to sit there". Well, give them to someone that will.

how does the paying for that work, do I need to have cash on my Tiger card bc I think my current balance is somewhere in the realm of 75 cents lol

I'm not a student but I have season tickets. The students are as entertaining as the game most of the time. Sometimes vulgar but plenty of times they are just flat out funny. It's a game to my girlfriend and I just trying to figure out what they are chanting. They are the loudest part of whats left of "Tiger Stadium". As far as 18" of space per person, I'll call BS on that. We have chairback seats and that's the only way we know where we'll be sitting. When we had bleacher seats, you could bet your life that someones fat rolls would be in your seat once you got there.

no payment necessary, free for students, unless you want concessions

lol, we aren't the most coherent with our chanting all the time are we?

I think we have to. I’m looking at it. Those are an average of over 3,000 people that we could have put in there if students don’t want to come,”
Well, if Miles looses 5 more games he won't have to worry about an extra 3,000 people who might have bought tickets. He will be wondering about where the 30,000 are who stayed home that are sick of the junk they are seeing on the field!!

merci beaucoup josh336 good to know

the area below the scoreboard and to the east is never full. above where the band used to be tends to empty too.

“I don’t know how wide a seat is, maybe 18 inches,” he said. “But what happens is people take up 30 inches. They spread out. They don’t get close together like they really could. If everyone sat in a seat instead of standing up and spreading out, we could obviously get that many more people in.”
this is true, BUT...the reason why is because for damn near every game, students pack the lower sections. In 2 years as a student, I have never sat more then 15 rows up. But i know how packed it gets. We had 3 people standing in the area of where 2 should have.
So Alleva, get out of your suite a come see what its like to stand with a 2 drunk buddies in this 32 inches of seating (thats less than a foot of space per person). Now I'm a big guy so its not always the most comfortable.
Another thing, Alleva get on the phone with USC and set up a damn home and home. You want your stands filled. If you schedule it, WE WILL GEAUX. I'm tired of all of our non-confrence games being a bunch of cupcakes (it happens every few years). Get some big time teams in here and you'll see what TS is all about. And the hell with CBS, keep the truly big games at night (i dont know about the contract specifics, so dont attack me on that. and i know the sec is going to espn and i dont know thos specifics either). TS's life is the crowd! The heart of the crowd are the students.
Alleva if you start taking away our seats, you will slowly kill the stadium. I enjoy having Death Valley as a shrine on campus. I love the fact that there are so many treaditions. This is what I was born and raised on.
Now I won't stop going to a game reguardless of what happens. But Alleva, if you want to understand exactly what LSU Tradition is about. Stop looking to rich alums and people in your suite. Look to the common fan. We love it for a few simple reason. Its LSU, Its football, and Its Saturday night!
Sincerely,
One Pissed Off Student

More coherent than when I was there and 18 was the legal age to buy alcohol.

Not exactly.
But thenagain, it wouldn't be as much fun if we guessed it right away. Stay loud and chant on.

lol sad part is i don't drink so i have no excuse for not being coherent, but yet i find myself losing my own self in cheers lol

The Death of Tiger Stadium, by the LSU Administration
1. Replace Welcome To Death Valley with stupid video message board across the east and west sides of the stadium to tell people to "Get Loud!" as if they are Astros fans.
2. Play "Calling Baton Rouge" before games.
3. Once people have become used to piping in music before games, bring it during games.
4. Reduce Student tickets.

I'm not even getting into this discussion...I'd probably piss way too many people off...

They take away more and more student tickets every year....every chance they get it seems.
Posted on 12/4/08 at 10:53 am to Golfer
The student section was garbage this year and now they want to piss and moan because their tickets next to the scoreboard that are empty for six of the eight home games this year might go the general admission route?

Sad but true...gets weaker and more P.C. every year...no more Tigah Rag...students used to be brutal with chants taunting the opposing teams and their players.

Hate to break it to you "one pissed off student" but those rich alumni and suite people paid for the current success this football program is having. Things like the new upper deck and football complex that all of our recruits are blown away by aren't funded by student donations or tuition my man.
