LSU Independence from SEC: Reclaim Saturday Night in Death Valley

Go independent in football. Reclaim our TV rights. Move all other sports to the ACC or Big 12.
Build a national schedule featuring ACC and Big 12 teams, BYU, Notre Dame, and any SEC school willing to play us.
Strike a deal with NBC. Notre Dame owns Saturday afternoons. LSU owns Saturday nights.
Every home game in primetime.
Give Tiger Nation a dedicated streaming subscription. We'd gladly pay to elevate our own brand.
And to everyone complaining about LSU's night games: For decades, 7 p.m. kickoffs were our tradition, not a special privilege.
Imagine LSU thriving independently, controlling its brand and media revenue. Alabama and Florida would certainly take notice. Could we start a movement?

Texas thought they were going to do this with the Longhorn Network. They are in the SEC now and the LHN ceased to exist
The ND deal on NBC was somewhat grandfathered in and LSU doesn't have the national presence of ND. The biggest population centers in the US (i.e. big city metro areas) aren't the biggest college football fans. And those cities are generally located in the Northeast and West Coast. For many people who live there Louisiana is an afterthought. ND has a higher brand recognition. It just does.
I get being frustrated with the SEC. Those frustrations are warranted. But thinking LSU could build some billion-dollar brand as an independent is incredibly myopic

What? Notre dame didn't even sniff the top 10, they were ranked #15 last year.

Getting LSU football at least gives the ACC a chance at a lucrative enough TV deal to make the big programs consider staying. ACC doesn’t need LSU basketball and baseball…they need our football program.
Move all other sports to the ACC or Big 12.

In large part that is because LSU was playing SEC opponents. Have LSU playing largely mid-tier ACC, Big 10, and Big 12 schools and those numbers decrease because they won't be as compelling of matchups. LSU playing Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, etc are big ratings. LSU playing NC State, SMU, Purdue, etc isn't.
Plus, the ND/NBC contract pays ND an estimated $50M annually. LSU's portion of the SEC contract is $72M
