C'mon dude the number of years excuse needs to go. We still do dumb shite about things about what happened 150 years ago and call it our culture.

Like I said I don't agree with it at all. We should probably use our outrage on the people being assaulted and raped today than the words that people did 20 years ago that hurt your feelings.

On the documentary when showing the clip you hear thr announcers say they cant repeat whats being saod but chuckling while they said it it.
why not get annoyed with them for saying how wrong it is? Why did they use that clip on the doc? Are the documentary film makers showing that there is no worse thing to be calcaed than being gay? They even said they got heat every where...but chose the gay chant. ..they must think thats the ultimate insult...we should have problems with who did rhe documentary as whu a gay chant is the worst thing possible

The guy just provided you specific evidence as to why it's not as embarrassing as you purport it to be. It's a chant from college kids in the early 90s. I can assure you that people that would have any opinion of LSU won't have their opinion altered by this.
it's embarrassing that gays still can't marry in Louisiana.
It's embarrassing that we were amongst the last to allow blacks to vote.
it's embarrassing that Louisiana is near dead last in education.
keep settling for the status quo my man.

i can assure you that most have no idea of what the rest of the world thinks about this state.

I can't imagine having the emotional instability to get that worked up over a non-issue like this. It'll be okay, man.
i'm sitting calmly in front of ESPN in a house in Los Feliz, sipping a carmenere and watching bracketology and awaiting a call from my ballerina girlfriend.
i think i'll make it just fine.

oh my a little black mark, because the basketball student section called Christian Laettner a **** 23 years ago. Get the frick out with this shite.
Oh ya we so sorry you are offended....
let the board know how old you were in 1992?

Poor Taste =/= Violence. I'm sure there are more worthy causes to move on to.

So you were there ? Or just tuned in and decided to pass judgement?
People pass judgement on things they read about or watch on TV. Are you saying that one cannot judge an event if he has not witnessed it?

fricking embarrassing. Five minutes and instead of it being about him vs. Shaq it was about our crowd chanting homophobic slurs.
Just take solace in knowing that if it were our baseball fans, he would have been given a standing ovation & encouraged to run a victory lap.

you guys think i'm annoyed with the people who said it? i don't have a time machine. and if i did, it wouldn't be to go try to change a bunch of kids from being assholes.
the laughable thing is that people here still think it was okay. it's like the people that say, "oh my grandpa is racist. he was raised in another time". ignorance is bliss. bigotry is bigotry.
if my grandpa was a bigot, i'd be embarrassed about it. if i acted like a churl when i was 18, i'd say. frick. i was an idiot.
oops.

our baseball fans are classy as hell.
i think my point is, we can't trumpet those moments, and ignore moments like that one shown… on national tv.

Well then why are you mad blacks were the last people allowed to vote? I didn't have any say so in that. Plus I dgaf if gay people get married, I don't get your anger.

i think a big problem with todays pitch fork mentality is that context isnt taken into consideration ever. Things get taken out of context and outrage gets made out of 4 seconds of an hour interview
So alot of times using tv clip as your only info can make you make uneducated decisions.

just saw the scene. Pretty fricked up by LSU fans.

Yea because the Holocaust and telling Laettner he's a homosexual are very comparable.
You think you're so witty and edgey and cool, and use these ridiculous analogies. If you in fact were this smart and witty, maybe that shitty arse TD radio program you tried to launch wouldn't have sucked so bad.
The entire damn premise about the show was about the lengths in which people hated Laettner. You weren't there, people in this thread posted reasons behind what they said. Why should I be embarrassed about something that happened 22 years ago?? If you want to be embarrassed then fine, but don't demand it or tell people they should be embarrassed as well.

the louisiana zuaves or fighting tigers were amongst the most decorated units in the civil war. they fought gallantly and as they were ordered.
but we don't wave a confederate flag. we adopted the tiger animal mascot. if we were referencing the confederacy directly, it should absolutely be changed.
just as the rebels of ole miss rightfully changed their mascot last decade

pitchfork? i didn't pitchfork anyone.
i said, 'hope you guys grew up." this thread shows me that most clearly have not.
fightingtiger is at least arguing logically. i can appreciate this. and i started slinging dolts to troll the mouthbreathers like LSUButt who's immediate "balls removed" posts were both expected and enjoyed.

Here's my Laetner story....I was at LSU when he came to town. One of the most anticipated games I remember. We camped out on the upper deck of the pmac. Tons of tents...lots of alcohol. Dale Brown bought pizza for all the campers...so there was pizza EVERYWHERE. The next morning, the Duke bus pulls up. People leaning over the balcony cussing Duke. I remember vividly....it looked like it was raining pizza....people throwing pizza at the Duke players. Off the bus steps Laetner..with sunglasses. He looks at the pizza hurling student body, and raises his hands, extending BOTH middle fingers. He kept both these hands up all the way into the stadium. It was awesome...like a movie....pizza raining down and Laetner unflapped.....flipping off about 1000 students. From that moment, I became a fan of Laetner. Absolutely NO fricks given by that guy.....and then his team, led by Grant Hill, proceeded to kick the shite out of us. Best team I've ever seen live. Hill was unstoppable....I hated Laetner, but that shite was ballsy and funny....
