Knowing that LSU is gonna be coming for them, Penn State, Michigan State, and Baylor seem to be unloading the bank to keep their coaches.

It’s absolutely insane LSU has this kind of respect around the country after the way the media has talked about us over the years.

Coaching changes this year is starting to look like championship table at World Series of Poker…

UF has got to realize they are going to spend a lot to get rid on Mullen and get a coach to keep up with Kirb.

You’re acting under the pretense that extensions don’t happen every year anyways

How many media outlets reported LSU's so-called short list of HC candidates? And how many of them had Aranda, Franklin, Tucker, etc...?

It happens primarily due to leverage.

LSU being linked to your coach may make some schools step up in a manner that they normally would not have.

There are a handful of schools that command attention. LSU is one of those schools.

As such, the amounts paid out are commensurate with the interest of the big boys.

Funny how any chatter about the 8/12 $96mill contract for Riley disappeared when Stoops was rumored to be in the running.

I have a nagging feeling that its agents driving up the price for everyone, using leverage and the threat of leaving.

Overall I think the skyrocketing salaries are bad for the game. It forces teams to over pay for coaches and it polarizes the haves and have-nots to an even greater degree.

There are perhaps 10-15 schools that can shell out mel tucker money (and I feel they WAY overpaid that guy for what he has accomplished, which is nothing yet).

that leaves +100 schools that just have to take it in the arse or go bankrupt trying to keep up.

I disagree, coaches need to be payed higher now that the players are getting paid.
