LSU will compete in second session this Saturday to capture its second SEC Championship meet title in a row. LSU is the #1 seed and will compete the olympic order. I will only focus on the teams in this particular session as realistically these are truly the only contenders for a title, unless everyone from this session falls on beam, or sits a pass on floor. It will start at 6:00, and be televised on ESPN2.

#1 LSU 1) Vault 2)Bars 3) Beam 4)Floor
#2 Florida 1) Bars 2)Beam 3)Floor 4) Vault
#3 Alabama 1)Beam 2)Floor 3)Vault 4)Bars
#4 Kentucky 1) Floor 2) Vault 3) Bars 4) Beam

Team Ranks by Rotation

Vault

LSU looks to have 4 10.0 vaults at minimum this Saturday. Priessman is expected to compete her 1 1/2. Ruby harrold looks to be in the lineup as well, her vaults have been excellent all week, some stuck ones too. Cannamela remains questionable for Saturday. She has a sore knee after she did a 1 1/2 awkwardly this past weekend. Myia and Kennedi both had some phenomenal vaults this week, stuck ones. I am very optimistic about a much improved vault score. LSU looks to hit above a 49.400 minimum on this event. LSU will have to find a way to stick vaults to win a national title.

Bars

I feel like I say the same stuff every week, there really isn't much to say about this rotation, its absolutely stacked. Durante has been one of the best lead offs in the country on bars and is only a true freshman. My one concern is for us to stick these dismounts. All season at home, LSU's feet are stuck to the mats, on the road its been a different story. Sticking our dismounts will be crucial. LSU has the chance to blow this meet open a little on this event if they can hit it. If Priessman and Finnegan continue to put up the same performances, one will score a 10 this Saturday. The pak salto for Priessman now doesn't have any separation. Edney has really improved her bars drastically this year, she can deliver another major score.

Beam

This rotation usually makes or breaks you in championship meets. The pressure and emotions play a role on this event the most. LSU will have to control its nerves and excitement on this event. It helps to have two seniors who have been in this position many times over the last 3 years. Edney has really improved her beam the last few weeks. She leaps are better and better. Desiderio continues to be as rock solid as they come, as consistent as anyone in this lineup, with a stuck routine look for another 9.9+ score. Only concern on this event is to see Campbell hit another routine. Consistency is key, a routine like last weeks will do well at SEC's. Campbell definitely looks much more confident right now, her leap series last week was the best we have seen all year.

Floor

It will be interesting to see what we actually do tomorrow in regards to a few people. LSU's goal lineup this post season is Kirby, Desiderio, Priessman, Edney, Finnegan, and hambrick. We should see Priessman tomorrow unless she is experiencing pain. Desiderio has a nice practice all week and had much better chest positions on her tumble passes, LSU desperately wants her out there. I feel like it will be up to who looks the best come warm ups for the last couple positions to be called. If Desiderio can show control during warm ups she is definitely LSUs first option easily. We will see but LSU's dream lineup definitely can blow up a major score this post season. I'm excited to see what happens

And for those who want an excellent read of Myia hambricks journey at LSU and the story of LSU's dramatic transformation in the last 4 years read this.

It starts dating back to the Jessie Jordan, hall and Courville era.

Yessir!

Post season comes down to making sure we can stick a couple more vaults. We don't need everyone to be perfect just a couple more sticks and we can increase that rotation score by .1 to .2 points

I'm so excited! I'm looking forward to seeing how the freshmen handle the post season as well as the seniors with it being their last. I hope all the nerves will be kept at bay, and they just go out & have some fun.

Does anyone have an opinion on why LSU has struggled sticking vaults this year? This is normally something they excel at year after year.

honestly, I think everyone keeps trying to be perfect and over thinks it too much.

Edwards is a brand new vault, she needs another offseason to polish it up.

Edney hasn't consistently stuck it because she has been over thinking it. We have people trying way too hard, you can't stick vaults when that happens.

I think this team was so used to gnat sticking or putting up a 9.95 every meet they were much more relaxed and eased when they use to vault.

If they could somehow put together a vault rotation like the 2016 Super Six that elusive national title banner might finally wave proudly from the rafters of the PMAC. Provided they remain stellar in the other events, of course.

Been watching LSU sports for a long time and that was one of the most riveting 15 minutes I ever experienced. It was a team gut check and they made an incredible run at the national championship. Oklahoma finished with their usual excellent bread and butter floor and got what the needed to win, but LSU gymnastics made a huge upturn that evening even in taking the runner up spot.

I feel like LSU has a very different advantage this year compared to last two super six's, this bars rotation is by far the best we ever had.

If floor hits the way we can, we should have a lot of scores similar to last years teams.

Priessman, Edney, Finnegan, hambrick can all score 9.95's easy.

If Desiderio can hit and control her chest positions, no reason not to have a 9.9 from her as well.

Beam is the just as good when they hit as well. If Campbell can develop some consistency over the next couple meets it would be fantastic.

I'd really like to see us clean up our vault landings, can't afford to give away too many tenths with steps there. Do what we do on the other events, and I like our chances.
