Skip. Nobody cared about baseball at LSU or in the SEC until he got here

I wonder how many NC's Skip could have won if he coached 4 teams a year and if he could put a revolving 3 or 4 man line up of say, Brandon Larson, Eddy Furniss, Albert Belle, Brad Cress types all getting 8-10 at bats a game and your starting pitcher was your ace (Ben McDonald, Gausman, Nola) EVERY game. Winning a NC in baseball is 10X harder than track.

He should have coached softball too if he wanted to be king. Not Henry's fault, Bertman couldn't handle 4 seasons and two genders.

FWIW....I played baseball at LSU and my son ran track at LSU. He will be the first one to tell you that if you have 2 or 3 stud sprinters on your roster that are healthy once the NCAA preliminary and national meets take place, that the eventual champion is almost predictable. Do you follow college track? These elite sprinters hardly compete all season long. They basically use season meets to train so that they peak at the end of the season. In baseball you need to manage a complete roster 35 man roster for about 70 games. In track, you just need to be able to sign 1 or 2 elite sprinters every year and get them ready for 2 or 3 late season meets. And a baseball coach has to worry about getting his best recruits poached. You really can't even compare what a college track coach does to what a college baseball coach does.

If it were so easy, there wouldn't be a Pat Henry. That's the point.

Pat Henry is a great track coach no doubt. He gets a chance every year to win FOUR NCs...indoor, outdoor, mens and womens.

He won 10 outdoor national titles in a row with the women. 10. I think that makes him the greatest.

Skip was and still is The Man...we would have a couple more trophies if he kept coaching.

The only problem with your argument is that LSU has won 1 NC since Henry left......A&M has won 8 since he has been there......apparently coaching makes a difference.
