I'm sure this was planned a long time ago, before the current meltdowns. But man, this really comes off as tone deaf. And I'm a huge advocate of donating to the Foundation.

That's assinine on your part. The university is currently on scandal #4 I think in the past year?
2 - Serious issues with managing the Greek system. One of which included a hazing death.
1 - Will Wade/FBI/OLOL debacle.
1 - $400K shite show with the Vet school employee.

This is yet another example of LSU's attitude towards alumni and supporters.

This is an idiotic statement. We just built an $80 million pool at the rec. We have plenty of money. We just spend it on stupid shite including an exorbitant number of administrators.
Honestly, your statement is idiotic. That Rec was paid for by student fees that students voted to pay themselves.
Are you suggesting students need to vote to assess additional fees to build a library? Or can the university reach out to donors for that?
That said, I agree with concerns about whether the current leadership (1) has the trust of donors and (2) has the ability to manage the university.

I'll still give but it doesn't mean I'm not disgusted with a lot of the current mismanagement.
Then you’re part of the problem. Stop giving these assholes money

Winning a Nobel prize in science is an incredibly prestigious award.

I refuse to give a cent to the current administration after the nutrition center scandal a few years ago. I’ll never forgive fka after he stopped the project after the private funds were secured all because of public perception. I understand one has been added, but pretty sure it’s a much more scaled down version.

I'm not donating a penny until F King is gone.

The $1.3B comes from their "Strategic Plan 2025" that was revealed last year...

I didn't say that it wasn't. It didn't prevent the poaching of our top professors and the push for the lowering of admission standards, did it?
No, it would seem that once again LSU took their success for granted, let an opportunity slip away, and are now demanding more money to keep the whole charade going.

What UHigh issues?
Strip away sports realted controversies and take an honest assessment of LSU's campus needs.
LSU was heavily reliant on state funding for their budget including building maintainance. It wasn't an ideal system and many expensive projects were either shelved or cheaply completed along the way.
Then Jindal came in and flipped LSU's funding model on its head causing the university to adjust to their new reality of receiving 20% of their budgetary needs from the state meaning the only remaining sources of revenue would be:
Tuition
Donations
Federal Grants
A comparatively small contribution from athletics
LSU struggled for years to figure out the best possible way to succeed in their new financial environment. Leadership from both within and outside the senior levels of LSU came up the following solutions
1. Holistic admissions allowing for more flexibility in bringing in tuition dollars
2. The largest and most ambitious capital campaign since the move from downtown.
LSU has had numerous chancellors/presidents come and go. The university is greater than the office. Think about that when you donate.
If you strip away emotion and take a critical look at LSU's campus, you will see that the changes outlined in their strategic plan are long overdue.
Today's college environment is more competitive than ever. By pushing to boycott donations as a metaphor for your unhappiness at the current state of the athletics program, you doom the future of LSU as it slides below its peers.

Jindal decimated the campus by an order of magnitude higher than anything FKA has done to this point. Jindal's budget cuts lead to huge losses of talented researchers taking their federal grants with them to other universities. Conditions at the university have been continually eroding with each passing year as the effects of barebones budgets take long term effect.
