It was just a comment on how back before the big TV deals, certain stadiums generated more money for SEC teams than others when they played there.

The point is the big stadiums at LSU, Fla and Tenn carried the other teams financially for years. But all we hear about is Bama.
Are you really this stupid?

I was talking purely from a financial prospective in the 50s & 60s of when a team went to play at LSU, Fl and Tenn. I did not mean to limit it to just Bama.
Back then they split the gate. Also there was no sharing of TV revenue, and there was only 1 game a week on TV.
Here is a break down of the on Campus stadium capacities during the period I was surprised that LSU had the largest stadium then.
Yrs LSU Tenn Fla GA BAMA OLE MISS MISS STATE AU
53-61 68000 46400 40100 36000 25000 34000 35000 34500
62-65 67500 52200 46100 36000 43000 34000 35000 35000
66-73 67500 64400 62800 59200 60000 37500 35000 35000
Here is an example Ole Miss with had a capacity of 34,000. If tickets were $10.00 the total gate was $340,000. They had to split the gate. So they kept only $170,000 and the same amount went to the other SEC team.
But when the played LSU in BR they split $680,000 ($10 X 68000) or they received $340,000. This is 2 times more than they received if they played LSU or any other team at home. In fact it is the same as their total gate.
Back then it was clearly a big payday to play LSU at home. Remember the Sugar Bowl only held 12,000 more than Tiger Stadium at 80,0000

Possibly the dumbest shite I've ever read on this site.

And Bama was the one on TV.

Tickets were like 3 bucks for a General Admission back in those days. Legion Field held 55K in the 60s and 75K in the 70s. So the 1OK seat difference split 50/50 is only 15K.
But factor in 1975 Legion Field held 75K and grew to 82K.
ETA: LSU only played in Tuscaloosa 5-6 times between 1930 to 1990.

Good Lord, some LSU fans have lost it. LSU is having one of, no it's most successful stretch in Tiger history and they concern themselves with any and everything Alabama. Outside of the game in November nothing g else matters. Recruits will go where they want and no one cares who's stadium is biggest. Relax.

You'll never hear a complaint from Bama fans about playing in Tiger Stadium. We salute you for carrying us all these years..
