I saw some hopeful things with the defense.
No. 1. We have the individual physical ability to play with anyone, but we've known that for awhile.
No. 2. That big third down play they made on us early (screen pass?) was a jail break blitz. I love that kind of aggression on defense! It was just the perfect play call on offense.
No. 3. Was Crowton purposely playing it close to he vest offensively?

I'll hang up and listen.

Some camera man def had a crush on him...

I'm not frustrated at all. In the first half our D was right there on every play minus the screen. Locker was way more accurate than we're giving him credit for. We didn't show any of our serious scheme. Jefferson managed the game didn't force anything. Nice game one.....Oh and our D is finally hitting people.

It was the worst excuse for a national broadcast I've ever seen on any network. ESPN owes LSU and Washington fans a big apology. IMO.

I think we can take away something positive: Washington mimicked what Florida will do. We need to work on those weak spots and design some schemes that will work against UF.

Man does this scare me.

One thing i noticed was that lsu has athletes at every position on the defensive side of the ball. If they can play(and are coached) up to their potential, they should have a good season defensivly.

I, hopefully along with every LSU fan, was very frustrated during the game. While I told some of the guys I work with that Washington would be much improved and predicted a 35-17 score, it was still hard to watch. I also believe we had better improve quickly or this will be another long season.

We have talent and I think everyone will agree with that. The type of offense Washington ran is tough to defend; keep in mind we will see it several more times throughout the year.

However, my main concern on defense, other than we decided after getting burned early, was not to blitz would have to be can we adjust quickly enough during games.

Ya'll right about the penalty's. I hope that can continue. I truly believe that Washington is going to be a much better team this year. And i think next week at home against Vandy our Defence will be alot more aggressive.

I think the frustration is we were outcoached again.
We had the better players

I think that is it in a nutshell; we are paying about $5+million for Miles & Chavis & with the talent we have we are rewarded with defense & for that matter offense like last night. It's unbelievable to me but makes my blood boil...

Les needs to keep his hands off the offensive play calling.

Les calls the offensive plays? What does Crowton do then, approve Les' calls?

Miles said he was pleased with the defense. Said they just missed some tackles. Its going to be 2008 all over again.

The offense actually had a respectable showing considering that they only had 48 plays (instead of the 65 play average). If you scale things up you get...

202 yards rushing at 5.1 yards per rush
233 yards passing, 58% completion, 15.6 YPC
42 points

Amen.....Is it just me or would more fans like to see Les show more emotion towards the players and his coaches when they don't produce? Constantly missing tackles and giving up third and long repeatedly is just not acceptable and should have been corrected right then...not at practice next week.

I wasn't too impressed with the Stafford-and-Moreno-less Bulldogs. I think we can go into Athens and take that one. And I'm still predicting a Tebow injury at some point this year. Either way, we'll be up for the Gaytors. Ole Miss and Bammer are the two tough ones right now.

Let me preface what I'm about to write by saying that I'm not a big GA fan. The league playoff game is always in their back yard, and when they're not in it, they start whining about BCS standings.

That being said, keep in mind that this was their first game as well, and an away game with a highly ranked and rapidly improving football team. Admittedly they did not have the same spark and finish of previous years' teams, but they were well within striking distance, and had momentum on the upswing when they were flagged for what in the SEC would have been a perfectly clean, bone jarring shoulder to chest hit (It was a thing of beauty). However in the Big Twelve "girly league" it's considered bad manners to flatten a Big 12 team member, and the resulting penalty all but gave seven points, not third-and-long to OSU.

GA never recovered from that call and the easy "gimme" score which followed all but nailed the coffin shut.

My point is that we would be well advised not to over look this bunch. They are after all an SEC team, and we all know that any of us can beat any of us on a given Saturday.

Chicken, can you PM this guy, and tell him I'll be GLAD to burn both games to DVD for him, and send them to him when he gets home next week?

Sheep, thanks for the offer. I just got the word today that my wife has it on the DVR. No worries man - I'm out of here in HOURS (maybe 40)....
