“The weeks preparing (for the bowl game), he developed so much, it was crazy,” Scott said. “He just caught on like that.
“He came in to this spring practice and didn’t miss a stride. He took control of the huddle, knew all the plays, knew where the checks were going to be, knew where the holes were. He looked pretty good (Thursday), I’d have to say.”
Jefferson, who is an 18-year-old, was reluctant to acknowledge his role when pressed by the media Thursday.
“Yeah, I guess so,” Jefferson said when asked if he viewed himself as the No. 1 quarterback. “Yeah, I carry that mindset.”

JL does have a tall mountain to climb to win this job back, not only has to win the coaches over but basically the entire team

The reality is that some people just make dumb decisions and throw interceptions and some people don't.
Jamie Howard - threw ints
Herb Tyler - Didn't
JL - throws ints
JJ - Doesn't
We just haven't seen enough of JJ as a starter to really know what he's going to do long term. Two games wont do it. TWO GAMES WONT DO IT. He looked good in his two starts against R-Kansas and GT, but those AREN'T Florida, Georgia or Bama. I want to see what he's got week in and out against better teams. He may turn into a mistake and pick factory when pressured by the best defenses of the S.E.C.. It's just too early (And kind of laughable

DD said Shep looked smaller than 6ft 1in 180lbs.

The reality, also from Miles: “But if we had to play a game today, absolutely, (Jefferson would start).”

JJ looks good. 220 is a solid weight for him.
he just needs to be smarter taking some hits.

Amazing, some of these people are either very young and inexperienced in the ways of football or just plain idiots.
You hit the nail on the head there. Wiser words have never been spoken here.........

This is about being the best team in the land again," Alexander said.
Alexander, who signed with LSU in 2004 out of Breaux Bridge High, is speaking from experience. He is a sixth-year senior and the oldest player on the team as he will be 24 in October. Alexander received an additional year of eligibility following last season because he missed nearly all of the 2007 and the 2005 seasons with separate injuries. Kirston Pittman, a sixth-year senior last season, received a sixth year from the NCAA a year ago for the same reasons.
"I'm the new Kirston Pittman," Alexander said with a laugh. "I'm the old guy now."
Pittman said the first day of spring drills 2009 reminded him of the old days. When asked if the new coaches were reminiscent of the fiery Bo Pelini, who was LSU's defensive coordinator from 2005-07, Alexander said no.
"I think I might take it all the way back to my true freshman year when coach (Nick) Saban was here," Alexander said. "It's backs to the wall and nothing but maximum effort. Not to take anything away from coach Pelini, but this style is more intense. It's what we need after last season."

And I like what Ol' Charles brings to the leadership dept. more than the field these days. I've got to say I'm not a huge fan of guys coming back for their 6th seasons when they played during their 5th. Time for the new guys to get their chance imho.

Because a group of people think one QB is better suited for the job they are now young, inexperienced, or maybe just plain idiots..
That's beautiful...
Oh, wait, JJ only played 2 games against Pop Warner League teams, he's proved nothing..Don't be so hard on Lee for setting the national record on Pick 6's in just one year of action...Be hard on the other kid who's proved "nothing" instead...That's what logical people do and it is really amazing, no doubt...

the level of twilight-zoneness on the rant lately has been a bit weird.

Doc, you have reinvented yourself nicely as a Spring Practice insider.
It brings joy to my heart that spring practice has come and the true rant arises again with threads about peoples calves being too skinny and the such.

I agree..
It's really simple in my book (which means nothing really)...
Let's all get behind JJ and pull for Lee..If JJ proves he's not the man then so be it-give the kid some rope though and lets let it happen...It will be easy to see soon enough...
BUT, if there is one person here that tells me we didn't look like a different team against the Pop Warner Team what was Georgia Tech I'll kiss his a$$ on the 50...
