re: LSU Fans Leaving Early

quote:Just curious here:
you bring your family including a 2 year old to a football game that is over a 2 hour drive on a non game day and when your family is asking you to leave when your team is getting its arse handed to them.. you have ever right to leave.
You say you have "ever (sic) right to leave", which, of course, no one is arguing. So you have paid for the tickets and made the effort to bring the family out to the game to get your money's worth of entertainment. And when the entertainment you are getting is not worth your money (and time, and effort, etc.), you decide to leave. So what I am wondering is this: since the entire transaction is -- for you -- simply an exchange of equal value (your money, time and effort for an equal value of entertainment), and you personally are getting from LSU exactly as much value as you are giving, do you consider yourself a "fan" or "supporter" of LSU football, or simply a customer of LSU football in the same way as you are a customer of Regal Cinemas?

Before I start, I'll state for the record that I scanned the 1st 2 pages of the Rant, and didn't see that this topic had been discussed.
quote:The team's play was an embarrassment...still is.
That being said, am I the only one who was embarrased by so many LSU fans leaving Tiger Stadium early on Saturday? That was ridiculous.
quote:So did the 50+ points, in fact, much more so.
The CBS crew, which has no reason to slam LSU, commented a few times about the early exodus out of Tiger Stadium. Imo, that really looks bad and reflects negatively on the LSU fanbase.
quote:Precisely why they left...it was.
I only get to go to one or two games a year, but we NEVER leave early. Seriously, what has happened to LSU fans, that so many can't even stick it out until the game is over? When LSU came back within 7 pts. at one time during the 4th quarter, the announcer even joked, "I wonder how many people are listening on their transistor radios in the parking lot?"
quote:ONLY??
Like I said, that was embarrassing. LSU only plays 7 or 8 home games a year. You'd think the fans could at least stay for 4 quarters. That's a joke.

The 30,000 or so that left early just HAD to get back out in the parking lot and start boozin it up again....7 hours just aint enough before the game.

we discussed it earlier.
solution for fans leaving: serve booze. ( and smoking area)
solution is simple. Serve beer and have smoking areas. Then you wont have quite as many people looking to leave in the 3rd quarter.
probably 20-25% of the people there are smokers. after 2-3 hours in the stands it's time to go get a smoke (especially if you've had a few drinks before hand)... which means you have to leave. When everybody else sees the first 15,000 fans get up and go they start looking for the exits too. Herd mentality and all that...

exactly, there were better things to be doing than watching my team get the shite kicked out of them.
for some of you, the best thing in your mind to do was to stay and watch, great. your position will never change, good for you.
for me, and others, there were better ways to spend our time.
we are entitled to show displeasure with the product we pay to see/use in this country also. there's no better way to do it than to walk out and give your time to something more worthwhile to you
every team has fans leave if theyre getting blown out, if you rely souly on fans to get your recruits, you're probally screwed anyway, or just dont let someone hang 50 on you in your house, that probally helps

Annnd it's people exactly like you that make Tiger Stadium the fricking shell of what it once was.

Actually the '03 NC came at a time when TS was at it's best. That UGA game is one of my most memorable games EVER in TS.

guarantee you in 2003 if david greene ran in a td with 11 mins left in the game the stadium wouldve been dumping out, its the nature of the beast dude..

You have the right to be a shitty fan. No question.
But you're still a shitty fan.
Deal with it.

Well, it's blatantly obvious you were at that game and know how the crowd was EVEN WHEN WE TRAILED.

If there are better ways to spend your time, why show up to the game at all? The reason that I go to a game in the first place is because there is pretty much no better way to spend my time on a Saturday than as part of the crowd at Death Valley. If you feel like you're wasting your time watching us down by two scores, then why not just watch it on TV and sell your tickets to someone else?
Your way of showing displeasure when LSU is losing is to walk out of the stadium? This isn't even like boycotting Brady's team last year; we've been a successful program, and you've shown up to the game in the first place. What is you walking out going to do? All it shows is that you're fickle, and that accomplishes nothing.
The 'every team has fans that do this' argument is moronic. Every team has fans that get too drunk and harass opposing fans, does that mean that if you do the same you're above criticism as an individual?

in that game we trailed by 3, early (1st quarter). i was saying if greene wouldve put uga up by 21 they wouldve been out..
and yes, i go to the games because I like to go. it was 21 when i left and it was the 4th quarter.
leaving early isn't berating anyone or doing anything immoral. it just pisses off a lot of people who post on here.
its pretty easy, they dont trail by 21 with 10 minutes left, and they show that there's a chance they could stop uga if they would try to score, and people like me would stay.

It's actually easier then that. We had a chance to pull within 7 with 5 minutes to go if Lee doesn't lock on to LaFell and sees the two WRs wide open in the end zone on a 4th and 4. He's young and he'll learn. We score right there an all you wagoners that left early could be singing a very different tune.

We have always left early. I don't understand why so many people on here are baffled by the fact that students/fans leave early. WE ALWAYS HAVE.
Since our football program grew to a 2 BCS National Championship powerhouse, everyone is expected to come at 6 p.m. and stay 2 hours past the conclusion of the game. Not gonna happen. If it's close, NO ONE will leave. If it's not, peace out!!
Nothing new people.
