We can jack the NIL up as high as you want. Big time transfers who are worth a shite ai t just transferring to your school
Because of NIL. In order to land those guys you either have to have A. A program who is gonna compete in lost season, or B known for developing players and getting them ready for the NBA. NIL money is a small drop in the bucket for actual players who are investing their potential Pro career in a school. What do ya think makes more? Getting developed, noticed, and drafted? Or playing for LSU for NIL money with no chance of post season and terrible development? Like I said, big name transfers are invested in the long run.

Let’s be honest, mcmen see the narrative as a great excuse so they’re pushing it but there’s zero truth to it.
Posted on 3/24/25 at 9:39 pm to Madking
Not only this, but when you have a lack of identity like his teams do you don’t know the type of player you’re looking for in the transfer portal. Example, bama has an identity that says “we run up and down the court and jack up 3’s all game”. So they look for players who are elite shooters. If anyone can tell me what our identity is I’d love to hear it cause we look like a bunch of misfits just thrown together and hoping it works cause our players had high recruiting rankings. Hence the top 15 class we just had. No amount of NIL is gonna solve this problem
Posted on 3/24/25 at 9:43 pm to Primeminister337
Our identity is sloppy play in all areas, turnovers and zero adjustments. Should be easy to recruit for that but you’re right. For example, all the dipshits crying “muh talent” all the time to excuse McMahon, Alabama had 2 top 100 players on their roster last season. Auburn only has 2 this year. They’re recruiting type for a system, they’re not bobbing for luck the way we do. We’ve had at least 5 top 100 guys on every roster under McMahon and we’re awful because they’re college kids who are still developing and have to be coached. The portal isn’t NBA free agency like these morons think it is.

Yeah it feels like Mcman is desperately trying to find a PG who can replicate the success he had when Morant was there and sour puns him with some bigs who can stretch the floor. But I got bad news, Morant was lightening in a bottle, a gift from the gods handed to Murray state. The chances of finding anyone close, and much less getting them to LSU 1 in a million.

The point guard play under him at LSU is by far the worst stretch of PG play we’ve ever had.

Yup, even with the information and analytics out about how high ball screen shooting by percentage is the lowest possible shot you can take.
Posted on 3/24/25 at 9:56 pm to Primeminister337
Dude, he’s running a 30 year old offense, analytics don’t matter.
Posted on 3/24/25 at 10:01 pm to Madking
You’re right, but ya wanna know the most troubling part of it all is? Even though he runs the most outdated offense in all of basketball, our guards can’t handle the ball, and are turnover machines. Normally one would think it was just a bad “batch’ that got recruited. But things the third set that look this bad. Then, throw in some bad handling of rotation and the ability to not be able to maintain a lead or stop the bleeding. Makes ya start to wonder, is it his a personal problem or coaching problem? And I think the answer is clear
Posted on 3/24/25 at 10:02 pm to Primeminister337
The two best PGs we’ve had were the 2 he coached the least.

McMahon was 31-3 without Morant in his final year.
I know this is a question you wont answer and will be eager to insult, as is your wont, but lemme try anyways: how did he go 31-3? 18-0 in conference.

You k ow what the absolute most amazing thing about this all is? That we are keeping a guy who has one of the worst conference records, and not just play, but the entire history of the sec. No school in their right mind would ever do that no matter what the payout is. It’s unheard of, especially by today’s standards. High school coaches would be fired and we are talking about a coach at a major university. And maybe I could understand a 4th year if he had one season where he had a descent season or was just on the cusp of being there the past couple seasons, but this wagon still ain’t left the gate! And no matter what his supporters say, there can’t be one them who seriously believes next year is gonna be diffrent. If they do believe this, they are lying or acting like this to push a diffrent agenda. And listen, I’d love to eat crow and be wrong, in fact I’d have seconds of if I were and would man up and admit it cause in the long run LSU is my school and basketball is my sport. Hell of Mcman brought us to the final four eat is crow with a side of big ole dick and smile while doing it. This ain’t a hate thing, this is me wanting our program to succeed no matter if Joe Biden was our coach.

Those people don’t watch basketball so they don’t see the signs and will stick to off court arguments because it’s all they know. But it’s very easy to see if you know what you’re looking at.

There are a lot of ways that can factor into that. Maybe a lot of returning starters in a bad conference. Maybe luck? Ja wasn’t the only good player they had cause even for as good as he was no man can by himself can carry a team to where they went. And this happened once, kinda like how South Carolina did so well last year, so luck and cards falling into place is possible and has been done before. So I answered your question with my opinion, now you tell me what’s the reason he went 38-1, tell me why you think he this happened?
Posted on 3/24/25 at 10:23 pm to Primeminister337
Indiana’s 5* forward is in the portal. He was an original Duke commit but this is the guy the mcmen say we’re going get so get him.

His 31-3 without Ja also needs to put into context with first losing season in 30 years at Murray State. You don't get the privilege to dismiss his failure and only promote the success. It's a body of work and he is arguably when coaching at Murray State, their worst coach in 30 seasons.

Exactly, and just because he had some success in the OVC, what he does doesn’t fly in power 5 basketball. The proof is in the pudding his last 3 years. In fact, you take this years team he recruited and put them in the OVC and he prolly does do pretty well. But it doesn’t equate to the type of guys and playstyle you need to hack it in the SEC.some coaches are built for it, and some aren’t. His place is the mid majors and there nothing wrong with that.

could LSU create a similar environment that he had at Murray? not to make him 31-3 but top half of the conference and tournament ticket?

He took over a good mid-major and arguably had their least success in 30 years - and your argument is he's going to build the Murray State program at LSU after starting 14-40 SEC?
You have to be trolling.
I hope he does it since we have no other choice as LSU MBB fans, but you're really going to continue to argue that?
