I'd pump the brakes on that a bit. This team will likely be picked to finish at lowest spot in the SEC since Wade's first year (when they were picked last). The SEC should be really good this season.
I think they will be good (LSU is the only school to finish in the top three of the SEC each of the last 3 years). How good is still uncertain because this team probably has the most question marks since Wade's first season. The individual pieces look good, but we've only seen a few of them do anything in an LSU uniform (Days, Wilkinson, Gaines). How will those pieces gel as a team? In prior seasons everyone kind of understood their roles. This year guys like Pinson and Miller, starters on good teams last season, didn't come to LSU to simply be role players. Most of college basketball is dealing with this, but there there are a LOT of new faces on this team. If and how quickly they can come together as a team will be interesting to watch.
Still, it comes down to defense. I heard Wade's recent comments. That's great that he's acknowledged that his teams have been terrible defensively. But I really don't give a shite about what he says in the preseason. Show me...don't tell me.
LSU is going to find a way to score. I'm not worried about that. If they TRULY commit to defending then they can win the SEC. If it is the same story as the last two seasons they will still be good, but likely in the 5-7 range of the league.

After, because it’s a team full of new players. Not worried about what nerds in the media say though. The guy has finished top 3 the last three seasons. He’s a winner. Trust the process.

LOL 5-7? Really? You do realize we've finished top 3 for the last 3 seasons and this is arguably the most stacked our roster has been under Wade. FOH with that 5-7 bullshite

After.
The SEC looks to be really, really good this season. You'll probably see at least 5 SEC teams in the top 25 to start the season. LSU won't be one of them. That said, there doesn't appear to be a clear favorite to win the league. There doesn't appear to be much separation between Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida and LSU, with teams like Mississippi St. and Ole Miss right behind them.

Could be. But it is also the first season since 17-18 where LSU enters the year without a clear NBA draft prospect. Ried is probably a fringe guy, as is Miller. But look at the mocks, there very few, if any, putting any LSU players in that group. On paper, it's probably the LEAST stacked the roster has been since at least 19-20, if not 17-18.
That's not to say that can't and won't exceed expectations. Wade had made a habit of doing so. But I'm just telling you what the consensus thought is about LSU coming into the season in what appears to be a very strong SEC. LSU could very well finish 5th, or 6th and STILL make the NCAAT. That's how good the league is expected to be.

Of course he realizes it; he quoted that exact statistic in his post, or did you just need read it and zeroed in on the one part you didn't like?
And I don't disagree with him; however, generally Alt26 and I's thoughts on basketball align. He's not saying they will be 5-7 because he thinks they are bad or will be bad. He's more basing that on how good and deep the SEC will be this year and stating that if this team can't find a way to play better defense than they have the past couple of seasons, then it is likely they finish outside that top 3 range because of how good so many other teams will be.
