Agreed the state of our program dictates we have to get to being in the tournament consistently before we worry about record in tourny

Then we also have the fact of how young Wade is and already successful so he keeps growing. Eventually that will turn into deeper runs. The tournament is so flukey and we traditionally get fricked on seeding

Name a winning coach who isn't "egregiously sloppy and idiotic" if the Admin wants to get rid of him/her.

Hell, the admin hired Pellini, when they wanted to get rid of the coach who built the greatest college football team in NCAA history.
The defense rests!

LSU was firmly in this year if Thomas and Reed don't have season ending injuries and barely touch the floor in the SEC play.

I agree…Thomas is a good player, but not great and Reed is a Tim Duncan clone who had only a few good games when healthy, but still, Tim Duncan vibes. I also like how McMahon has done basically nothing to elevate Robert Miller’s game. I do credit McMahon for being able to steal mediocre bigs from Miss St. though.

I don’t give a shite about postseason record from a program that can’t ever make the tournament

This is the breakpoint for those of us who think Wade is overrated by so many of you. Of course his record is incredible compared to the dumpster fires before or after him. You guys keep making that point even though no one disagrees with it. We just have a different definition of success and it is centered on postseason results.

That's fine. But I think you also have to take that into the context that he was only allowed to coach in one NCAA Tournament at LSU. In that one he won the first game and lost to a No. 1 seed (Michigan).

At VCU in 2016 he (as a 10 seed) beat the 7 and lost to the 2 seed (by 4). In 2017 he lost to the 7 seed.

Expecting him, or anyone to have great NCAA Tournament success at McNeese is a big ask. In year 1 he lost to 5 seed Gonzaga. In year 2 he BEAT 5 seed Clemson (who went 18-2 in the ACC), before losing to No. 4, Purdue.

This postseason is probably the first year in his career you can say it was a truly disappointing result. Otherwise, it's not like he was taking a No. 2 or No. 3 seed and getting upset by a huge underdog in the first round like Cal did two of his final 3 seasons at UK. He mostly got beat by really good teams. That happens. For the first 11 years of his career Kelvin Sampson didn't win a single NCAA Tournament game. 0-5. He turned out ok.

If the postseason is your main focus then, at best, his grade at LSU is an "incomplete". But if the WORST thing you can say about him is he just hasn't gotten over the hump of beating a great team in the NCAA Tournament yet, then I'll take that because, at minimum, he was the only LSU coach this century who showed he could consistently get into the tournament. You don't even have a chance to be great if you can't get into the party
