Will Wade- “as long as he’s at LSU Skyler Mays will be a starter”

You missed my whole point. Who starts isn’t as important as you think. Thanks chief.

You didn’t just say it would be a good idea in general. You said Mays specifically will come off the bench

You’re right Thomas and Cooper didn’t play much at all vs La. Tech but we’ve seen this every year so far from Wade. He likes to play as small as possible early on then goes bigger and bigger as conference play approaches. Thomas for sure will have to play once we start facing true centers and bigger 4s. As far as Watford he looks every bit of 6-9, I dunno if you’ve ever seen him in person but he’s easily 3 inches taller than Emmitt and Days and you could fit Emmitts entire skull inside of Watfords and still have room.

I seriously havent heard a peep about Thomas, I wonder if they redshirt him. Listened to Wade talk numerous times recently and dont remember 1 time him mentioning Thomas.

We signed him late, we were put in a bind after the 2 bigs we were counting on went elsewhere during the controversy. He’s 6-9/6-10 and is supposed to at least give us a matchup option size wise vs the bigger teams. He’s got some bulk to him, 250lbs, so hopefully he won’t be pushed around easily. Played with Manning in JC.

OH I know all about him, I'm just stating I have no idea what plans they have for him because Wade literally never mentions him when talking about the team in recent interviews. He mentions Cooper, who only played a few minutes against LT and said he wanted to play him a little more in the exhibition.

Add Hyatt and that's a very comfortable 9 man rotation which is what most teams tend to use. Bishop might be the only questionable one in there to see if he can give 15-20 quality minutes a game as he transitions into a slightly different role from high school.

I don't know if I'd say Watford is easily 3 inches taller than Days. I think Days, Williams, Watford, Cooper and Thomas are all somewhere between 6'6" and 6'8". There isn't a huge difference among the 5.

Perhaps to some degree Wade went "small" early, but the bigs were all experienced players...Epps, Reath, KBW, and the one who didn't have experience, Reid, was a 5 star recruit. On the flip side both Cooper and Thomas were very, VERY, lightly recruited players with little to no experience. I think the hope is that you can't teach size so maybe they will develop the necessary skill...but I wouldn't count on those guys playing significant minutes. I think you see LSU roll with a 9 man rotation.

Don't forget Hyatt as Wade called him a "sniper" from the 3pt line

Add him in my comment there, not sure how I forgot about Hyatt but yes, I believe those 9 will rotate with Graves, Cooper and maybe Thomas getting mostly mop up minutes or play in heavy foul situations.

Caleb Starks could be interesting, he was pretty decent at LSU-Eunice last year, interested to see how he plays in late game blowouts.

Exactly, look at that picture, Watford could swallow Emmitt whole. Days is thick so he looks bigger but look at the heads and shoulder height, it isn’t even close between Watford and the others. I think when it comes to Thomas and Cooper they’ll play in “need” scenarios when their length is needed to maybe slow someone down for a couple minutes. They’ll probly have roles similar to big Elbert Robinson so I don’t expect more than 5 minutes a piece max.

Wade just mentioned Thomas now and said it's a medical issue with him right now which is why he isn't playing.

Well not encouraging from a health standpoint but at least he might have move value than expected. Wade did say last season that he will never play small again so hard to imagine him recruiting a big just to fill space.

Looks like Hyatt has spent some time in the weight room.

Wade said Manning was best player on the team?

He was quoted in the Baton Rouge Advocate as saying this. I will try and find it and post a link.LINK /
He was referring to the trip to Spain, but still, that does say a lot about the dude.
