I agree with a lot of people that it depends a lot on how much Dotson and Derenbecker improve. It has a lot to do with how much of a contribution O'Bryant and Hamilton can actually give. And can we get a frickin PG that can dribble drive. I hope TJ gets the job done, but what happens if this team finishes 4th-6th in the SEC West again and don't even make the NIT? I say he's gone, for sure.

yeah, no question about that. TJ needs to make Tourney IMO.

Definitely but we have no depth. Reality is that TJ took over a team a year that had some players, got a good 1st season. If he was ever going to be hot on the recruiting, it was set up back then. He laid a big load of manure in recruiting. ONE player ranked #25 in his high school recruiting class over 4 years of effort is not going to win. TJ is not a good recruiter.

I dont see that happening. If we do, people better rally around him.

That could give Dotson an edge over Turner as a starter.

WTF. The ONLY thing that isn't a question mark about next year is that Turner WILL be a starter

I think its possible. And I am already behind him, so no rallying needed

Exactly. If Dotson was remotely close to Turner in talent level, we'd have a pretty good 2-3 combo.

F - O'Bryant (Fr.) -- Hamilton (Jr.) -- Green (Sr.)

I don't think we can take Talley and Grooms. I think it's we only have room for one PG and that's with taking Bass of scholarship.

Also, Hamilton is a Center, so I'm pretty sure it would be Hamilton and O'Bryant/Warren/White starting.

And why do you have Dotson over Turner. If anything, I think Turner is the starter at the 2.

And why do we keep leaving off Green?

When will we find out about the JC guys? When does the signing period for them start?

Signing period starts April 13. I would imagine that they would make commitments in the next couple of weeks. I don't think we will take both players. Even if we had the scholarships, these are two highly recruited players. It is not a given we will land one, much less two.

I'm crossing my fingers for Talley

I'm with you on that. Green showed up with good fundamentals and lots of energy on the court. His back problems were severe, and that kept him off the court. Last year he improved quite a bit. He needs to be taught how to stay on the court in a SEC game. He is prone to foul players driving to he hoop. He's paid a lot of dues and I really hope that the coaches can get him ready for next year.

people were bad mouthing Thornton his JR year saying he was lazy and out of control. Johnson got a hold of him and he started playing defense, diving for loose balls, playing within the system.

yeah i am sure TJ coached him up, give me a break, he was invited to the NBA potential draft camp after his Jr. year. MY is a scorer and was long before TJ got here.

If we do get Talley, he will be a perimeter shooter and someone who can drive to the basket. The latter is an important skill set if we hope to exploit the inside presence of O'Bryant and Hamilton. Turner is an outside shooter, whose ball handling, passing and ability to drive with the ball has not been readily apparent. Dotson is not the outside shooter that Turner is, but he is a better defender and he showed an ability to drive and dish off that Turner didn't. The knee injury of a year ago kept Dotson from developing fully. Plus his mother has cancer and I am sure that upset him. He is a long way from home. Another year of rehab and improvement in his ball handling should make him an asset in sharing the ball.
There is just one ball. I would hope we can find someone to get it inside to the big boys as well as launch it from beyond the arc. We seem to have several players who like to try the three no matter what the situation. An inside-outside game is preferable.

The guards bring the ball down and if they don't involve the tall guys we will see a repeat of this season.

I don't think I can take another losing season. If next year is like the previous 2 years...Trent needs to pack his bags.

I find it strange that Trent is not being held accountable for his pathetic recruiting the last 3 years. I mean Turner is the only SEC caliber player he has brought in to date. Sure this years class may turn out okay (though if he doesnt sign a quality point guard that is a question mark as well).

There is no reason the team should have been pathetic in his 3rd year. Even giving him a pass on his first year his 2nd year recruits were sophmores. Not saying they should have won the SEC but they should have been .500 if he wouldnt have signed all busts!

Some say if he goes 7-9 or 8-8 we should keep him whether he makes the tournament or not. In my opinion with as bad as the West is he should have recruited well enough to go 7-9 or 8-8 this past year and be a lock for the tournament this year.

As of today, LSU bb will maybe win 5-6 games in the SEC and that is if Obryant is as good as advertised. Isaac won't be any help, he's a descent player who should really be at McNeese. There are many five star high school players who bombed, the list is long. Other than that we will be one year older, and here's the bad news so will everyone else cause the rest of the league is young too. TJ better get a couple of experienced JUCO guys who can play or we will not be much better. So how anyone can believe this team will even sniff either tournaments next year is not realistic. Most teams in the league toyed with us and still blew us out. I still believe the Utah rumors had some teeth from the people I have spoken to, they did to. Sounded like he inquired with his buddy (utah AD) and his friend laughed at him. The fact he is going after JUCO players should tell everyone he knows he is in trouble and abandoning his original plan cause it bombed. Also the fact that Nance is still on campus is a joke, he should have been fired the day after the Vandy game, which tells me TJ still thinks his way is the only. His way as of today will have him unemployed next year at this time. Just being realistic.

You have the most honest outlook of an LSU fan. Thanks for posting! My thoughts exactly.
