We’re 25% of the way through his first season in which he inherited a pitching staff without a true Friday starter.
In fact, it can be argued that LSU doesn’t have a pitcher on staff who would be a Saturday night starter at most SEC schools.

Do you think Mainieri or Bianco would have a better record with this team? They weren’t that good last year but got hot at the right time. Tennessee blew us out in the SR and it wasn’t close.

So why didn’t he recruit pitching? He spent all off-season talking about how good he was at improving hitting. You can’t win in baseball without pitching.

What more was he supposed to do?
