It's easier if your make an initial ranking of the teams (or steal it from somewhere) top to bottom. Then you go from there based on those rankings and keep move forward week to week based on previous weeks.

Yeah I agree but I'm not doing it this year

Yeah you weren't the only one. There is no formula for ranking teams, and if you ever figured one out, you would be a very rich man.
There is no shame is looking at the existing polls and using that as a starting point. Then use your own opinion from there.
