Skip-Bo is good. I do enjoy a rousing game of Phase 10 as well

Who surprises with better than expected play this year?
Going in to 2013, we all knew what Nola, Bregman, and Cotton could do.
To me, the guys who showed up big last year were:
Sean McMullen - .314 AVG, .399 OBA, .463 SLG, 26R, 18 2B, 30 RBI. He was steady throughout the year and we missed him for awhile when he was hurt.
Joey Bourgeois - 34 app, second only to Cotton. 2.25 ERA, .230 opp BA, 32 K in 32 Inn. Pretty consistent middle relief. After having TJ surgery, he fought through a slow career start to have a great Sr year.

Stevenson will be a surprise to most who haven't paid attention the last 7 months.
I think McCune bounces back well. Newman will break out and be key.

Really? We knew Bregs would be one of the best players in the nation? I know we hoped he would be really good, but we didn't know that.
The surprise that we need this year will be in the bullpen. None of us know what to expect.

Ummm yeah...we sort of knew. Adam4848's Feb 2013 preview:
Alex Bregman should have never made it to campus...period...courted by major league teams early in the draft selection.... Bregman steps in with some big shoes to fill in Austin Nola, who will go down as one of the best shortstops ever to play at LSU. The good news is Alex has a chance to become even better. Hailing out of the state of New Mexico, Bregman was one of the top hitters in all of high school baseball before injuring his hand in his senior year. Speed wise Bregman may steal 8-10 bases, he won't be called upon to steal but has the ability to run. What makes Alex special is his rare power and gap to gap pop that will see him bat in the 3 hole when LSU opens the year vs. Maryland in less than two weeks. There is a strong possibility he'll hit over .320 with 12+ HR's in his freshman year, he's that polished at the plate. As Mainieri said he's never seen such a hard worker and for Alex that means good things on the horizon sooner rather than later for this upcoming star.

Key word there, chance.

You know how many high school studs don't pan out in college/pros?

He hit .369 after not getting a hit in Omaha. That's a lot better than .320.

You want to know what Mainieri said about Chad Jones? Jaocby Jones? Casey Yocum?
My point is, we all hoped that Bregman would be very good, but you never know until you see the potential proven on the field.
