Yep, last stats I saw Baton Rouge (where I live by the way) was 5th in the nation in per capita murders (higher than even New Orleans) and Chicago 21st.
Having gone to Chicago dozens of times many, many more neighborhoods to walk around in safely than B.R. whether you are talking by numbers are percentage not even really close either way.
As for LSU bars, I've never been there when LSU was playing a really big game I needed to see but I'd always heard the Standard was the place.

Yeah someone mentioned the official LSU bar is now somewhere in Boys Town, but the Standard is definitely still a place to watch the Tigers... I pass by regularly and its still decked out in P&G... I dont really care for it because its always butts to nuts in there...
