Be careful, you are talking yourself into a bad bet.
how about the fact that LSU has covered the spread the last 4 times, they are coming off a bye week (3 of those against Bama) and Bama hasn't covered the spread in 4 of the last 5 times they are coming off a bye week, (3 of those against LSU) and if you look further, they are 3-7 against the spread following the last 10 bye weeks.
Bama is 2-7 against the spread in their last 9 November games.
LSU 6-1-1 against the spread in Tuscaloosa last 8 games.
Road team in the series is 13-4-1 against the spread in the last 18 games.
Bama has been favored against LSU in 7 straight games. They've covered 3 times.
History lies in LSU's betting favor, especially given it's a double digit line.

I'm taking the money line. +340 like a boss.

Yeah, that's really, really false. My favorite is when they win, but don't cover. I like it less when not favored, but still has nothing to do with being a fan.
So you have a monetary interest in LSU not performing to its fullest. Explain to me how that makes you a fan?

Ah the old victory tax. I've known of fans that always bet against their team in big games. Either they win money off their team's loss, or they win emotionally by watching their team get a big win.
Doesn't work as well if you're laying 11 points against your team though. Then the dreaded lose-lose situation comes into play.

Teddy I see what you are saying, but history isnt the best guide in a betting situation. History tells us the game will be close, the reality this year it probably is double digits.

it takes a special kind of fan to actually lay money against LSU
I'm not dumb. I'm actually pretty smart when it comes to betting. Go look at LSU's record ATS the last couple years.

You're a fricking idiot. Not everyone wears P & G glasses all the time.

Its not about wearing "purple and gold glasses" its about you making an investment in our competitor doing better.
An LSU fan betting on Bama is like an environmentalist investing in Hummer.

I hope every LSU player is pissed that they are not receiving any chance to win this game. The Tigers need to be focused, motivated and growl like a tiger and eat Bama prey for dinner.

i just can't bet on LSU to lose....call it P&G glasses if you want. i'll just not bet on the game at all. there's plenty of other games out there to bet on. i guess i'm just a better fan than you.

if your bet requires LSU to lose for you to win money than it very much does have something to do with you being a fan

Bottom line for me is that I DON'T bet on football at all. Why put my hard earned money to depend on others to make me more.

as a fan I want the team to win...period, I don't care if it is by 1 or 100. I would never bet on a team I have an emotional attachment to, there's plenty of other games to bet on.

I bet on it. LSU to win straight up, no spread. It's only a six-pack, but my buddy challenged my fandom.

I'm not doing anything crazy but I will have money on this game.
I'm thinking 60 with the points and 40 on the money line.

While i think the line is correct in being that much, i think there's too many indications to say that LSU will cover. It's a rivalry. Just like Ole Miss always seems to cover against us when we are favored big to beat them. Vegas and our eyes tell us LSU should beat Ole Miss handily usually, just like this bama-lsu game, but history tells us that the game is usually closer than it'supposed to be.
