Seems like it comes from both ways. LSU seems to feel threatened when ULL does well.
Nah. USL would have to actually be a threat to either rise to LSU's athletic level in some meaningful way or win something meaningful on their own.
They have yet to do either.
The only reason you see LSU fans react to USL is because of fan interaction, not because of any rivalry between the programs. LSU fans, in this case, are merely counter-punching...and usually do this so long as it remains entertaining to do so.
The real hatred come from Lafayette. I say this as a USL alumnus and a guy who once got into a screaming match with City/Parish President Joey Durel about this very topic back when he was still just running his pet store on the day USL got their precious name change. Their dislike of LSU is visceral...they're not playing.

water skiing
softball(made it to supers)
and i don't know a third so i'll just guess women's swimming
So basically women's softball (this year)
The national champ in skiing was.....wait for it...ULM University of Louisiana at MONROE!
So why don't they say UL won the national title? i guess they can't use google either.

I don't think I have ever posted on this site, but I have to give my opinion and pose a question. I used to be one of those LSU haters. I don't cheer for them, but I no longer go out of my way to cheer against them.
My question to LSU fans is this. LSU athletics will not take a far step back on any given year. Football and baseball will always be playing for a national title. Other sports will be at the top of the SEC and can make a run at any time. If UL were to progressively move into a better conference and become more nationally recognized while LSU stayed at the top, why is this such a bad thing?

Obviously, they'll take LSU's place when LSU secedes over the football scheduling.

Oh yea if the SEC expands USL has to be at the top of the list. Good point

That is irrelevant. Answer the question. If there is no threat, why is it a bad thing?

ULL wont go to a better conference as long as they are in the bottom 10 in all schools in Athletic Budget. Exactly why Conference USA didnt take us and why ULL is scrambling to make improvements to all of it's facilites so they dont get caught with their pants down again. Conference USA would be a perfect place for ULL imo but they have a long way to go budget wise to get there.

It's not a bad thing. So why would a person, born and raised in Louisiana, pull AGAINST LSU when playing someone like Bama? Just because they go to ULL? Especially in a sport where ULL is eliminated or not ranked nationally!
It's just moronic to say "I hate LSU" just because you attended ULL. I've lived in Lafayette. When LSU was eliminated from a sport, say baseball, and ULL went to Omaha, you bet your arse I was cheering for them to win! And same goes for basketball years ago when they went to the sweet 16 I think. In football last year, I was absolutely pulling for ULL to win their bowl game.

Yup, oklahoma state agrees. And that North Texas powerhouse, lord. Question how'd y'all keep that N Texas game so close?
Posted on 5/28/13 at 1:11 pm to AP83
USL would get butt raped if they were in Conference USA year in and year out.
Posted on 5/28/13 at 1:11 pm to AP83
Sorry to break it to you, but CUSA ain't much better than the Sun Belt. Honestly, I think y'all are in better position than y'all think by making the necessary improvements now. By the time the Super Conferences come around the Big 12 may come calling...and CUSA may have done y'all a favor!

Posted on 5/28/13 at 1:12 pm to harry coleman beast
we played a better game against them than the almighty LSU did
