quote:Nothing, but thats not the point of this situation. The SEC/ESPN are looking at this from a ratings point of view. Which I'd much rather have our team take the advantage of this kind of national attention. Then hear our fanbase bitch and moan about not being able to play this game on Friday.
Can you tell me another game besides ours that's worth watching at 1:30 on Friday?
oh and how about the fact of having a permanent night game every season.

Having a game on a thursday night that happens to be thanksgiving night is not "nothing"
If you wanna do it every once in a while like the Saints did that's fine, every year though is a bad thing
After reading 9 pages of this thread I've only come up with maybe 2 positives out of all of this and both of them are overrated
1) Being on TV nationally
When LSU has been winning they've been on every week anyway and the perceived difference in ratings isn't going to make a difference in LSU's athletic budget so it doesn't offset ruining a holiday/missing a game
2) Being on TV nationally
One game a year on thanksgiving isn't going to suddenly get LSU 15 extra scholarships, we fill the ones we have just fine the way things are so it doesn't offset ruining a holiday/missing a game

You've got zero say in it.
That's not what we're discussing. It's fricking stupid to put this game on Thanksgiving when it could be played Friday or Saturday on primetime tv.

I have no idea how you got
Sure, and I addressed that and you even quoted it...

So there's really no advantage of playing on Thanksgiving night since you will be the major game on Friday at 1:30.

I really don't care. Look it up if you like
quote:Not sure what this has to do with anything, but again...not surprising. I'll be at the game. Not bad for a casual fan, maybe some of you die hards need to step up.
No, it's Thanksgiving. Are you like 22 years old?

It's a lot, and most will not be happy about it.

A lof of people will cry about it. And then they'll go to the game just like they always do. Or they won't if nothing major is on the line, just like they always do

I couldn't care less about day or night games. I actually prefer 2:30 games. That's besides the point.

Dont these people realize that most people have to work the next day?!?
Really? i don't know anyone that works on the Friday after TGiving. This is only every other year anyway that it would affect people (other than those few who go to away games). Just form a new tradition that involves the football game. Never understood what the big deal is with TGiving anyway. Don't get me wrong, I love the food, but it wouldn't stop me from going to a big time LSU game. I don't like the idea of a short week, but if they put a bye or North Texas in front of it, I guess it won't hurt anything. This bitching and moaning is weak. Tiger Stadium 1/3 empty for a night game against Texas A&M??? Bwahahaha, yeah right.

As I said earlier, I would prefer Saturday over anything. But if it has to be moved I believe Thanksgiving night is better than Friday.

It has a lot to do with it. When I was 20 years old, my priority would be going to the LSU game. I'm 33 now and trust me, my priority is still LSU, but I know when it's time to be with family and Thanksgiving is one of those times.

So you're criticizing the guy because every single Thanksgiving is tied up for the foreseeable future?
If you plan on going to all the Thanksgiving games that means you aren't celebrating Thanksgiving, in which case none of anyone else's arguments apply to you

Actually its not.
Everyone on this board bitched that we were playing at 2:30 every week last season. Now we actually have a granted night game and you people still aren't happy.

ITT: people who's parents won't let them skip dinner for football. I'll be happy to buy your tickets.

I agree with Broham now.
I think the cowboys and lions should stop playing on thanksgiving. The nba should stop Christmas day games. New years day bowls should be moved off the holiday.
No sporting events should take away from holiday time.
Besides, all of those things I listed are always only 1/3 full anyway. Especially those new years day games.

Yes it is. Find one post where I bitched about a 2:30 game. YOU CAN'T

or
Why not just turn thanksgiving into a huge tailgate and enjoy the day drinking and eating [which lets not play stupid, more LSU fans are pissed that they can't drink all day then worried about the game being on thanksgiving].
Personally, I love the fact that the game is on thanksgiving night. Gives me even more of a reason to cut the family time short and head on campus to be with friends.

So you never ever want another night game in tiger stadium?
thats rich bro..

Exactly. People are being selfish, just like the Orlando fans who wanted LSU playing in the Cap 1 rather than the Cotton and tried to pretend like they had legitimate reasons BESIDES not being able to travel to Dallas.
This is good for LSU. This is good for the A&M rivalry. You'll all live.
