and tailgating would be largely unaffected. This has the feel of being taken advantage of, much like $8.50 beers at a ballgame or concert

Come on SG toucan do better than that. Answer all my questions instead of picking out quotes out of context like some political strategist. My garbage fee is figured into my tickets, charge people without tickets, or base my yearly fee accordingly and reserve my spot.

I have also read that garbage collection is figured into season ticket cost. I have 2 season tickets, shouldn't this give me free access to a non reserved lot.
I don't tailgate, I don't trash the campus. I have 4 season tickets and I walk a mile to the stadium on gameday. I don't think I am entitled to free parking, why should you be?

I would guess the majority of the people he will charge will cut back in other areas like car insurance and doctor visits.

Many still do not understand.
LSU administrators like most university administrators ie. officials are liberals. They think like liberals. Tax and spend. I know for a fact that when there is money left in the budget they look for ways to spend it so the budget will not get cut next year.
They are now being stretched (not much) like most have always been in private business to make budget cuts and they don't know how to do it.
Thank God for Jindal. Go get em and don't let up.
More money does not equal higher quality. See our public education system for reference.

Take this shite to the poli board. LSU is one of the most conservative schools you'll find.

If you walk a mile then you park for free. I really do not get your point. Payment for something should have valid worth and a guarantee. Payment, especially the amounts listed, should come with some sort of guarantee. Can someone please tell me what the furthest pay parking lot cost yearly?

People in the tailgate groups will just chip in a few more dollars towards donations to cover the $40 parking fee and $50 trailer fees.
Everyone in golfers group will do that and bbaps group too.
I'm still trying to work out the logistics with mine

Yeah, I guess parking at home could be considered parking for free but then I pay $1,200/month for mortgage and condo fees, so free it ain't.

It goes right here because it is directly related to the subject matter of the parking fee.
You response is very liberal like in wanting to control what one thinks or says.
I actually think you are a myrmidon. Better look that one up. No way your vocabulary stretches that far.

You're an idiot. Just because someone can afford the price does not make it the correct or fair price.
Posted on 11/22/10 at 7:01 pm to BOSCEAUX
All of the current pay lots are $400/year (parking passes). The exception might be Lot A which might require a larger donation.
The new pay lots will be $20 or $40 per game.

LSU Is undegoing cuts as a university. The chancellor, much like any CEO worth a damn, is going to look for ways to increase revenue and decrease cost. What better way to increase revenue than to locate an untapped revenue stream such as the abundant free parking on LSU's campus for football games? LSU owns all of the supply and the demand is relatively inelastic. You put the two together and you have these parking passes. Everything the university does pushes the balance of supply and demand to the limits. LSU will stop just short of diminishing returns. The ides gets packaged and labeled as garbage cleanup, but that is a crock and everyone knows it. The revenue will prop up the academic shortfalls.
The difference between myself and those who bitch is that I see it for what it is and I choose how I want to react. Golfer and BT choose to whine on Tigerdroppings. Others choose to prioritize and look for ingenious ways to absorb the fee. Part of me feels sorry that your first instinct is to complain. Myself and many others will figure shite out on our own. It is irnonic that someone mentioned the university's actions were liberal-minded when the ones who are complaining and expect a handout from LSU sound much more like the modern liberal than LSUKs capitalistic approach.

Won't almost half of the parking spots still be free next season? That's how I read the memo. All lots east of Highland Road and north of the Music Building will still be free.
I really don't understand all the whining.

I'll post this yet again since I see a couple of you guys actually can comprehend it. LSU's budget is being reverted back to 2007 levels yet the school is acting like the budget is being sent back to 1902 levels. Was the school in disrepair in 2007? Nope.
This is all a smoke and mirrors money grab....period.

Vapid is the only word I can think to describe you. I bet you think people that don't own property should be allowed to vote on property tax hikes.

LSU athletics budget is totally seperate from the Academics budget

LOL I host a tailgate once a year. We do not tailgate in the reserved lots or the new pay per game lots. Our are is still free. If and when they charge our area, we will move to another free spot or we will pony up. Either way, it will be our choice.
My tailgate is no elaborate show like some. Like I said before, if your guest choose not to come because of the 40 dollars per vehicle, not person mind you, then they were not enjoying your tailgate as much as you act like on this board.
This is the bottom line. If you do not pay the fee, you are saying that clearly your experience each game was not worth 20 bucks. If that is the case, then why the frick are you complaining?

So all the lots except A cost the same? They are not based on conveniance and or distance? That sounds wrong.
