I love the team and the optimism but he is not a diamond in the rough. He had a tough adjustment period from circuit ball/hs to college, as many freshmen in college basketball do.

Yes, he came in with some expectations to be an impact guy right away and the staff thought he would as well, that's why they started him early.

He came in a bit cocky and didn't help matters in that regard, and his play did not quite live up to the expectation of those close to the program IMHO. Fair or not I think that's pretty accurate to what I saw and heard.

So yes I agree I would not call him a diamond in the rough. A physical talent who took a bit longer to develop than maybe some expected...yes.

I see Malone and Robinson s minutes have gone to 8 and 1 minutes. Like to see more development there.

Very promising and the biggest takeaway from the game IMO. We can launch into Elite 8, Final Four talk with a decent draw if Epps can stay healthy and contribute.

Playing at Tioga did him no favors, but with his athleticism, skill set and most importantly versatility, he could be the silent difference maker.

I think it's very very unfair to call a kid like him cocky. Cocky is a derogatory word and often can be confused with confidence. People just have different interpretations of what cocky and confidence is. If he were cocky then I think he would have been disliked, and that's completely opposite of what I've heard about him.

Also, to the poster about how long the game is: it's still 40 minutes, but there is a 24 second shot clock.

Agreed. Honestly, if Epps gives you even decent minutes when Victor returns, there's ZERO question this team has the ability to win a NC.

There is a solid chance at the end of the year we have 3 1st rounders, have senior leadership, and the best player in the country

I think I heard on BR talk radio earlier this week we averaged 73 pts/game last year. With the new 30 second shot clock the the transition game this team can play, I think we'll average over 80/game this year. Some teams will try to slow us down and we'll have some off nights shooting, but it's gonna be fun to watch this year.

Will be hard IMO to have all of our guys go stone cold from the outside...you've got Quarterman, Sampson, Hornsby, Patterson, Blakeney, Simmons & Gray(somewhat) who can get on a roll from the outside.

IMHO it's too early to know, we haven't seen other teams yet. But I like your positive outlook!

The problem for this team won't be scoring, it will be defense. We've got no one who can guard the post effectively. Victor helps, but he's not much of a "banger" on the inside. That is going to be this team's downfall when we play teams that are more balanced.

How many bangers are we going to face? There aren't even a lot of bangers in basketball anymore

Words mean different things to different people butt. He made comments in several articles and interviews before the season started that he did not live up to and he kinda had to eat a bit of humble pie. I personally don't think saying that was cocky is a derogatory statement but to each his own.

Glad he put the work in to make the improvements and I'm happy for him.

I would hardly call him that, he was a 4-star Top 75 overall player in the country when he came out.

He just had a really rough freshman year.
