He is getting more physical but still his play on defense (outside of being 7'2) is lacking. I saw it from the stands and I guarantee a coach watching film saw it. Taking advantage of a defender who is slow to rotate isn't the hardest thing to do in basketball. But at this stage he will not be making any drastic improvement.

It's one of those things... Give me a player on our team to replace him that would be better and I'll say do it, but IMO he is the best that we have. And he is improving with each minute he plays.

I agree that he is the best we have right now, but I am merely trying to comment on what I notice about Tiger Basketball. Not a negatiger or anything (will be at the game tomorrow) just pointing out something that I thought would stimulate some conversation.

Totally understand!

And appreciated. This board needs more basketball chatter to get me through my work day.

I finished up my South Carolina report and I'll post this afternoon. Don't like to be too far ahead of the game or the thread gets stale too early.

ADP is definitely still a work in progress when it comes to his defense

He can't be left alone on defense. He's able to handle it own 1 on 1 and with help, he's able to contain from those easy plays from happening.

I didn't really get this.

My opinion on his defense is he is fine playing post defense without help, but he really struggles with help defense. He is slow to rotate. With his size it could be his biggest asset, and at times he is able to alter what guards in the paint do, but he doesn't get to the right place quick enough.

Unless he is going up against an all SEC type center, I think he is perfectly fine with his length against most forwards in the SEC.

Ludwig SEC Projections:

0.3 pts
2.0 min
0.5 rebs

My Ludwig projections were all about him getting the type of points that Del Piero is getting... It's not him creating points as much as others creating and him finishing...

Andrew's problem on defense is that he tries too hard. He tries to help the other guys on their men. As pointed out he is not fast enough to get back when he does this. He needs to remember (to be coached?) that his primary goal is to stay down low and protect the basket. He also needs to work on not only getting his arms up high but to close on the guy shooting. At 7'3" no one should be able to shoot over him but yet we see it time and time again because there is just too much space between them.
