Meanwhile at TCU, TJ is 6-9 and 0-3 in league play.

Why do we never see coleman play the 3 in a line up with tuba and JOB3 when we face a team with flordia's size.

There's two points I'll make to this comment. 1, if you want Coleman due to size, LSU would rather go to Shane Hammink who has proven to be a very good perimeter defender and is 6'7". 2, Coleman cannot be used at 3 because we lack depth down low. Next season, Coleman may play some 3, but for this season with Coleman, JOB, and TUBA being the only players really contributing at the 4 and 5 position, it doesn't leave time for Coleman to push out.

Also with a lack of ball movement and penetration when a team goes zone against us we should automatically jump into the zone press if some key players are not in foul trouble at the time.

This again goes to depth and the fact that we cannot sub enough players to go full court all game.

quote:

No one penetrates the zone, all we do is make a couple of passes around the peremiter and jack up a shot.

I agree that they aren't getting enough movement on offense against the zone. They try to pass it into the shoulder or down low to JOB but it quickly gets eaten up. Picks, and drives need to be a concentration for this team on offense when we play a zone.

Also just noticed Hickey got passed up for NCAA lead in steals after Briante Weber had 9 steals against the Dayton Flyers.

Its 3.55 to 3.59 so Hickey is still close behind. Weber has played in 17 versus Hickeys 11 games though.

I saw his 9 steal game and was shocked. I'd love to see how those happened. No matter who you're playing, that's incredible.

Dayton is actually pretty good at 10-6 and average under 15 turnovers a game. But like you said, I don't care if you are playing Grambling (worst team in basketball), 9 steals is sick.

Im not sure. I know that was the "Gold game" so they wore them. Kent Lowe said it is a game by game decision. Nothing known in advance, so if the players and or coaches liked them, they could see a return.

I liked them though.

I thought Hickey played incredibly well. Very impressed with her effort, defense, and especially the 0 turnovers.

I think it was the most impressive performance from a Tiger this year. In a night where nothing was really going right, he was able to have an incredible game. The 4/0 ast/to was pretty amazing, and the 4 steals on a team that only averages 11 turnovers per game is truly impressive.

Yay Hickey

Hickey was awesome. He's such a quality player and smart running the point. He'll also dish it to whoever is open at the right position, regardless of if it's a player who's not playing so great. Everyone gets touches that way. When they get touches, they feel more confident and distribute the ball better.

We still force shots though. Carmouche has been off form in that regard, he still works hard on defense. Wonder what the problem is with his shooting? Just a slump in the low end of a cycle?

I'd love to see them trash the whole uniform. I know LSU wants to use the "Geaux" font on everything, but it just doesn't look good on the basketball unis. No reason LSU can't just have a classic looking uniform like Arkansas, Alabama, Vanderbilt, hell even UK. All are Nike schools, but they don't look like someone swung by Wal-Mart right before the game to pick them up.

My all-time favs are the 80's early 90's version with the dunking tiger on the shorts. Substitute the "eye" for the dunking tiger if you want, but get rid of the bold Geaux font and all these goofy stripes that expand/shrink and wrap around.

He's the straw that stirs our drink. We were tied or down one possession when he sits with two fouls and we go in at half 9 down without him.

When we make the run to cut it to 13 he sits 3-4 minutes and we go back down by 20.

He's just dynamic in the open court offensively and defensively. Still needs work on his shot, free throws and he and the whole team need to get some better cohesion in the half court offense. They seem to have little sense of purpose in the half-court.

Gotta find something they can hang their hat on and the next two games are good opportunities to do that.

Yes, the change in tempo from run n' gun to half court seems to stymie them. I think they lapse into the "no offense/wheel offense" of the TJ era and grind to a halt, more or less. Any time ADP comes out too far past the end of the key, you've got problems - he just can't get back down low quick enough. If Andrew could learn to set a pick properly, but not too far out so he could get back quick, that would help a lot.

A win @Auburn would have been very nice, but my mind hasn't been changed yet about the year. We still have a great shot at having a successful year (8-9 wins). I think we beat Auburn if it was at home and probably on a neutral court too. Florida is just tough, but I think we win both games next week and get some confidence.

Did anyone else watch ADP on defense during the Florida game? His ability to rotate back after providing help defense was very poor. I think on three straight possessions his man either had a dunk or an easy layup and those possessions were killer. His lateral quickness was very lacking.

ADP is definitely still a work in progress when it comes to his defense. I think he has gotten much more physical in the past 3 or so games, but he still has some quickness issues. It will be interesting to see how he develops as the season progresses. He has been such a fast learner this year, it's hard to believe how improved he is.

He is getting more physical but still his play on defense (outside of being 7'2) is lacking. I saw it from the stands and I guarantee a coach watching film saw it. Taking advantage of a defender who is slow to rotate isn't the hardest thing to do in basketball. But at this stage he will not be making any drastic improvement.
