Just curious if anyone wants to do some RANTsearch and fill us in on what year did LSU return the most starters ever? . I read where we return 8 on offense and 8 on defense this season. That's INCREDIBLE compared to recent years and for sure most of this decade. Shaping up to be a great year! GEAUX TIGERS!!!

We returned 10 last year so we should be 1.6 times better

I thought we returned more than 8 starters on offense. Brumfield technically didn't start a lot of last seasons games because he was hurt. Battle on defense can be replaced easily with the talent we have. Greedy will be replaced with stingley. Moreau was pretty good, but we have better receiving options at tight end this season. The only one that will be tough to replace is white, bc well, he's d white lol...but we have more overall talent on this year's team than we did last season and it's not even a debate. This year's team is absolutely loaded at every position except maybe the o line, but with them all having experience last season with each other, I expect them to be much improved. Geaux tigers.

I couldnt tell you but it's been a while. Juniors leaving early was big under miles. It happens everywhere but seems like we got hit with the guys who should have stayed a lot. Getting guys like Lawrence and Fulton to come back was huge

Three (?) years ago, the year we opened against Wisconsin at Lambeau Field, we returned 19 starters. I am almost positive.

It was 18 but you were close enough. It’s the whole reason Mikes was fired. He had a ton of returning veteran leadership, upperclassman QB, and a favorable schedule.

Sound familiar? It should.

You have to qualify how you determine a starter. SDS says 7 offense and 8 defense but some of the "non-starters" have some starts under their belt. 2011 had 15 returning starters as well but I suspect the same is true for them.

Let's look at something different. Experience based on letters earned. Bold are high water marks in the ones I looked at. Not sure this is a good metric but thought it was worth looking at. It is worth noting that ever year we ended the season in the top 5 except 2007, 50% or more of our returning experienced players had 2 or more letters. 2007 we were 1 player shy of the 50% mark. This season we have over 50%.

2003 had 46 returning lettermen, 23 with 2 or more letters.
2005 had 48 returning lettermen, 35 with 2 or more letters.
2006 had 47 returning lettermen, 28 with 2 or more letters.
2007 had 53 returning lettermen, 26 with 2 or more letters.
2011 had 54 returning lettermen, 32 with 2 or more letters.
2018 has 55 returning lettermen , 21 with 2 or more letters.
2019 has 51 returning lettermen, 27 with 2 or more letters.

In 2016 LSU returned 8 on offense and 9 on defense. We would have returned 10 on defense, but lost LaCouture to injury.

Losing White but gaining Chaisson back plus the depth at that position is a win for me.
