If Alabama can beat them LSU should be able to beat them.

Against Alabama, Kentucky's 2 big runs came when Alabama was pressing them full court.

Kentucky handled it extremely well -- aided by their athleticism to win looser passes and get their bigs who move really well isolated. It really only opened up space for some of their talented playmakers to drive whereas they seemed very frustrated by a tough half court man defense with help.

What won the game for Alabama was Grant abandoning the press and going almost exclusively tough man to man half-court defense with occasional traps in the second half.

Kentucky seems to have lot of players with obvious talent but who don't yet have the confidence or whatever to play the way they have the past couple of years where every one on the perimeter can beat his man off the dribble, make good decisions and also knock down threes.

s it by the coaches direction?

Yes. It is.
They want him to take more shots.
He's not used to that, under Trent Johnson.
He's basically having to unlearn some of the style Trent had him do last year. It's a shame that Anthony's natural game wasn't utilized, and now he's having to re-adjust once more.
He's used to being a distributor and on-the-ball defender first & foremost.
Who else does CJJ have off the bench to share the shooting/scoring burden though?

We have to start making teams pay when JOB draws a triple team in the lane. I'm hoping Stringer/Hickey/Morgan will have some touch today from 3 point land

Just my opinion Brit, but I believe they should re-think that. He's taking passing up some open folks at times to take tough shots. I really think we'd be a better team if he struck more of a balance in those situations.

For me it's not a question of who else can score, it's a question of if these tough running one-handers when he breaks down the defese are better shots than dishing to open teammates.

It really is. We just have the personnell to make it work. The fact that it was succesful from the first time against Marquette even though we really hadn't practiced it shows this team is just made for it.

Morgan and Coleman really have the length and athleticism to trap as effectively as any trapping duo around and HIckey and Carmouche have the instinctive ball-hawking skills that are unparralleled.

Having said all that I'd certainly try some pressing, but I'm not so sure it's going to be as effective against Kentucky. That might backfire in that you have a very talented Cat team that has really struggled in the half-court just like us, but then put them back on the playground so to speak it might bring that talent to the fore giving them some open court. Let's see how it does, but if they end up with a couple of quick dunks off of it, I would'nt stick with it too long.

yea the key for me today is to be good enough in 1/2 court man and that will help keep our guards fresh. we'll need another 4+ steal game out of hickey to get some easy buckets. get what we can in the paint. hope we get a few of those long rupp arena rebounds to kick start transition offense.

Right S. If we have to rely on our half-court offense with those sloppy, poorly executed high ball screens that push us back to half-court and throw us completely out of any semblance of purposeful offense, it ain't gonna be pretty.

Kentucky's gonna have to help us with some turnovers for even a chance to be close.

According to TVGuide.com the game is both on WAFB (1007) and FOXSports Houston (1038) on Cox. If either of those don't work the game might get shifted to WAFB's sister channel WBXH-16.
