He’s missed 2-3 games this year and again will be gone soon.

It is true. His contract will eventually run out and he will become a free agent. The whole point is he didn’t have to sign the extension. He could have demanded a trade on his rookie deal. You don’t sign a contract extension, then demand a trade 12 months later.

Stanford also signed two extensions with the Lions. He chose to stay there as long as he did.

He missed the first 2 but is now healthy what’s your point? Burrow leads the league in TD passes is 2nd in completion % (behind Daniels) Weapons for Burrow is not the problem.
Looking at their schedule they could easily win the next 4 will probably finish 8-9/9-8

So?

See my first post, their window has closed. That’s my point

It doesn’t exactly work that way, he can “demand” a trade but the Bengals don’t have to trade him. A first round pick is a 5 year contract and the then the team can franchise tag him. He can’t refuse the tag, well he could refuse to play for them I guess but then he’d sit out a year and be in the exact same position.

This is an overly simplistic view. They do not have the option to just sign wherever they want but instead opt to stay with bad teams. The teams have most of leverage. Also things their lives, they have this one small window to make a life changing fortune the tag is a one year deal, what if he gets hurt?

Also players do not view things the same way as fans. They all think they will win wherever they are. The Bengals have been a poorly run franchise that’s true but the Lions have been a joke and are now one of the top teams in the NFC. The Texans were a complete disaster just 2 years ago, but a new GM new coach and stud QB and they look to be in a good spot. Things can change quickly

I understand. The post I made that you responded to was to a guy who was saying that Burrow should now demand a trade.

I know this, but that’s how it works and how it’s been. To act like every good player is stuck with the team that drafted them for the rest of their career is dumb.

I understand this as well. So why is that guy saying that Burrow should demand a trade? It seems you responded to my post with knowing what I was talking about.

With Higgins probably so, for Burrow? No. Look at the Saints as just one example, they made the CCG in Brees first season, then 2 .500 years. Won a SB, had a SB caliber team for another 4-5 years (should have won in 2011 :bandhead:) 3 straight 7-9 seasons with Brees putting up historic numbers then 4 more years as SB contenders. As long as they Burrow and he’s playing at a high level they can have an open SB window. Will they? Stay tuned but don’t be a prisoner to the moment

To act like they can just leave anytime they don’t sign a long term contract is equally dumb.

Because he’s being a prisoner of the moment after a bad loss and lashing out. No reason for Burrow to “demand” a trade even ignoring he has zero leverage since as you noted he has a deal in place he signed not that long ago.

Right, I meant the window for the roster and leftovers from their SB and AFC title run. They’re going to have to reconstruct to get back in contention, it may take a few years.

Joe Burrow = Carson Palmer

Heisman - CHECK
Flip the Bengals Future - CHECK
Not ever enough to get over the hump - CHECK

Agree, believe a change of scenery would definitely help Joe, but it won't occur for awhile

Yeah I’m not doing that.

Yeah my entire original post that you responded to is me saying that the guy’s post saying that Burrow should demand a trade is dumb.

same qb, but a winning qb if the holder catches and places the ball properly like he does 99% of the time. Sometimes there are things in a game that the qb has zero control over, and this was one of them. Just like Bengals loss to KC....CB mistimes his coverage on 4th and 16 play and gets called on a very close call for PI....and Bengals lose that game also.
If Bengals had KC good fortune, there would be zero complaints about JB.
