You have to be a democrat. Always wanting to spend other peoples money.
That's what everyone was saying back when the portal was going crazy and Lane reeling in the big fish: "Who cares? It's not my money." I don't think anybody had a political affiliation for that sentiment. We just want a winner.

yeah, you right… it is a solid product, and since their entire focus is on that one thing, they can crank it out and, with the focus on that one thing, you can trick the process down and make the entire thing THE ONLY focus… so then it just takes getting all the best and brightest and also all the best ingredients…and then you just start crankin out product!… when canes started out, there weren't that many chicken finger plces around… i remember, one sunday afternoon, hangin in canes, eating chicken fingers and drinkin sweet tea, a storm was rolling in and the winds were blowing about 40 mph… that big squeaky 40lb amoco sign, the one the squeaked every cricket fart, was being blown so hard it was hanging in a horizontal position!… and, the pizza place across the road, was closed, so people were discovering canes, and before long the place was full!… that little shop wasn't that big… but it was the place where canes took off!… and school was closed, between semesters, but all of the customers that afternoon were students, or students-to-be, and the word got spread very fast, and when school started, the word spread like a wildfire, and away canes went!!!…

How is this man that rich? Canes isn't even that good.
there's a lot of money in fast food bud. That's like asking why McDonalds makes so much money. No, it's not great food, but it's cheap, there are thousands of them, and they've printed money for decades

He went to Georgia, his original partner was an LSU student, an LSU professor helped with the first business plan, and first restaurant was on LSU campus.
I had that professor for marketing around 1997. He would tell the story about the business plan and where it needed to be tweaked (if I remember correctly, the professor said the original project got a B+ grade). Even though they only had two locations at the time, I remember the professor admitting the original business plan might have been a little more successful than he first thought.

Holden Spaht Scott Ballard Pepper Rutland EJ Kuiper (OLOL) Ben Bordelon Gordon? (Probably a tier below)
I would add from NW Louisiana:
Scott Moran (now deceased) - name is over one of the gates on the west side of TS.
Bo Campbell
There’s one more currently giving a significant amount. Can’t remember his name.

I would add Richard Lipsey to that list.
His primary assets are held in private companies so his exact personal net worth is not publicly disclosed. However, his wealth is definitely substantial and he's a big donor to LSU.
