No, vaccines have been shown to eradicate diseases in the case of Polio and Smallpox and reduce pandemic levels of infection in the case of the Flu.

So just to be clear, I am confident in Medical Science to control this pandemic via vaccines similar to the Flu and perhaps eradicate it just as vaccines eradicated smallpox and Polio (with except two hardline anti Science Muslim countries, i.e. Afghanistan and Pakistan).

It has nothing to do with what I believe, its anyone's belief.

If one believes the vaccine works, there is no reason to test people unless they are seeking medical help.

So what I am confident in is if we get enough people vaccinated, this damn thing will either end or be under control.

The virus is here to stay just like the flu, you are delusional.

I don't know where you are from and you don't know where I am from. But lets take the most conservative part of the State, North Louisiana. This Doctor, Jackie White is clearly saying the only way to get this under control is for increased vaccinations.

There is no "control", nor is there a defintion.

Either way, what does that have to do with the topic. If you believe the vaccine works, than there is no reason to mass test or test people generally unless they are sick or seeking treatment.

Does she look and sound like somebody part of some anti Trump Left wing conspiracy? Why as a Medical Doctor who has devoted her life to saving people (our fellow Louisiana citizens) would she be making the quotes she is saying.

I'm not following the link.

If you believe vaccines work, than you have to admit there really is no purpose for mass testing.

Agree, maybe Alabama will get there team to 85% vaccinated. Love or hate Saban, he runs that Organization like a top notch Fortune 500 CEO runs his or her company. You can bet if he says guys get vaccinated, his guys are going to get vaccinated. I am sure he has had Medical experts there explaining it to his team. And given that he has 85 4 and 5 star players on his roster, if someone is not vaccinated, they may not play or be relegated to the practice squad away from his 2 deep roster, etc.

Listen: I have said what I said about vaccines. As long as there is the chance to have pandemic level outbreaks, you have the chance to have restrictions like we have had the last year.

I have said the vaccine works, yes, I believe that, but according to the latest stats, slightly more than 50% of the people in the USA are fully vaccinated. Thus, half the country, that is 165 Million people approximately are enough to still result in pandemic level outbreaks.

So yes, I agree this will be something more akin to the Flu which means unlikely to eradicate it, but with vaccines control the potential for pandemic outbreaks. Now, yes, just as the Flu has variants, it is a virus so while not totally a living thing, it can adapt and evolve as it enters a host (Cell, which is living).

So just as the First Flu vaccines began in the 1930's, by post WW2 in the late 1940's, mass distribution in the USA prevented pandemic level flu outbreaks (i.e. 1918 Flu Pandemic), I think the COVID-19 will do the same. Now, as the Corona virus mutates, Medical Science will as they learn about the variant adjust the Vaccines accordingly, which is what they do for the Flu and various strains today. In addition, as Medical Science treats more and more patients and deals with more variants, etc, I believe Medical Science will develop therapeutics and treatments as well, same way it did and does with the Flu.

So as long as 50% of the USA is not vaccinated, that is a lot of Human cells available for the Corona to infect and mutate and adapt. The surest way to get the pandemic and potential for more pandemic level outbreaks is to first get enough people vaccinated. Similar to the USA's history with respect to the 1918 Flu Pandemic, first step was vaccinations in the 1930's and 1940's, got the level of infected to a non pandemic level and prevented other pandemics, medical science was able to respond to new flu strains with updated vaccines and as Doctors treated more and more patients, and Pharmaceuticals developed therapeutics, the USA has prevented the Flu, not eradicated it, but prevented it from pandemic level outbreaks.
