No he didn’t. He was just exposed without Burrow and Aranda. He was 20-15 at LSU without Burrow, 25-3 with him. It’s not any more complicated than that.

It was worth hiring O for that one magical season
Without O, Burrow would never have been a Tiger

Really? No doubt 98% of the Power 5 programs would settle for this record

2016 LSU 6–2 4–2 T–2nd (Western) W Citrus
2017 LSU 9–4 6–2 3rd (Western) L Citrus
2018 LSU 10–3 5–3 T–2nd (Western) W Fiesta†
2019 LSU 15–0 8–0 1st (Western) W Peach†,NC
2020 LSU 5–5 5–5 4th (Western)
2021 LSU 6–6 3–5 T–6th (Western) Texas

LSU: 51–20 31–17

And we ended up getting the greatest team in college football history!

And then it was proven that the success of that team was all about the coordinators. Once Aranda, Brady and Einsminger left we saw how good Orgeron really was. The 2021 team was as bad as the Curley Hallman teams

So the same as every other coach in college football.

For Coach O.

Where does the time go?

Are you an LSU fan? I have and cheered/watched LSU from 1962 until present. I would still take O over the majority of LSU hit and misses. 2019 is still may favorite season.
Wait two more seasons. Sometimes we count wins as losses and losses as wins.
Time, time, good good times, where did they go.

Imagine you need to have your appendix removed.

instead of going to one of the top handful of surgeons around, you decide to just pay local methhead hopped up RedBulls.

the methhead somehow miraculously performs the surgery flawlessly and you survive.

you still settled and got lucky as frick.
getting the methhead to perform your surgery still wasn't a great idea.

He was destroyed by Pelini and company.
You believe Pelini forgot how to coach defense?
A Coach whose defense that held Ohio St to seventeen points in the National Championship.
Suckers!

I am grateful for what O did to get 2019 to happen, but man he flamed out so bad immediately afterward. I want to give him a pass, but hitting on pregnant women in gas stations and trying to start fights at the camp? Come on. He made himself look like a buffoon again - immediately after winning it all. Talk about not being able to handle success…..

It's probably a safe bet that some behaviors like that were kept hush hush when he was winning.

what you saw in 20 and 21 was Ed Orgeron.
17-19 was the act. he just couldn't keep up the charade.

Perfect analogy

To take it a step further, after performing the surgery the methhead actually thought he was a surgeon and expected to be paid like one.
