He does women's basketball (since the mid 90's I think) and softball. Occasionally he will fill in and do a baseball or men's basketball game if Hawthorne/Hanagriff have a conflict, get sick, etc.

Well, under that logic, then I guess Kent Lowe is a top candidate for the job as well.

ETA: Kevin Ford/Ricky Blanton do the bball games when Hawthorne can't.

I'm not saying he would be a good choice to take over for Hawthorne because he has been here for a long time...I am saying he would be a good replacement because he does a good job.

Wright is a decent play by play guy. But Hanagriff is the better broadcaster. He has alot more on-air personality.

ETA: Personally, I'd rather shell out the dough and have Bob Uecker come be our play by play guy. Tell me that wouldn't be awesome.

I wish there was a way Jim Henderson could just do both Saints and LSU

10 years ago I might have agreed with you, but not any more. I have listened to Uecker a good bit on XM radio and he has started to slip the last few years. Health, age, who knows...he is 76 years old now. He is funny and all, but it is sometimes hard to follow what is going on.

first off, i've never been a hawthorne hater and i am aware of his mistakes. but he's kind of like home to me.

like La. politics and crappy saints teams.

even with the mistakes, he's on my top three favorite sports calls of all time. henderson is 1 and 2 but hawthorne's call of the warren morris HR still gives me chills and i can still recite it word for word.

i like lyn rollins but he's no youngun either.

it wouldn't surprise me if they go with someone on the outside and stay home with the color and sideline guys.

i think hanagriff is one of the best sports minds in BR but when he does the middle innings of games as PBP i want to fall asleep. wright isn't that much better.

Patrick Wright would be an outstanding replacement...very smart guy, great voice...stadium announces the Golden Band during games...done a ton of baseball pre-hannagriff. He could step up and do FB, Bsktball, and baseball no problem.
