quote:

“The first-year coach of the Tigers led Notre Dame to two CFP berths and a spot in a BCS National Championship Game during his 12-year tenure in South Bend, Indiana. That success came despite academic and geographic challenges that make it difficult to sustain success at an elite level with the Fighting Irish. He is 263-96-2 overall in his career (not including vacated wins) and has been named Home Depot Coach of the Year three times.”

Those career accomplishments are great in a vacuum but when discussing the elite of the elite in college football, championships talk and that’s something that Kelly not only understands but embraces. He has a blueprint in place he feels will work at LSU and one of those first steps was establishing a framework of “accountability” for how he wants everyone in the program to operate.

“I've been called a players' coach, a CEO, demanding, whatever narrative you want to come up with,” Kelly said back in December. “I think I've hit all of those. Look, I think the most important thing is you'd better have relationships with your players and you'd better know your players. You'd better know their strengths and weaknesses. You'd better be able to have the ability to reach your players and communicate with them and be demanding but never demeaning.”

It’s insane that basic competency is such a breath of fresh air. Almost two decades of incompetent leadership will do that.

Lofty Praise University

Let's reserve praise or criticism for when the team is actually playing.

I don't think that's going to happen

I agree LOL.

I am not a fan of preseason hype or a preseason trashing of the team/coach, because none of it matters until the season starts and games are played.

if Les and O can win a title, I am thinking Kelly can also

you need a little luck along the SEC battlefield.

Win 10+ games and then we'll discuss his potential.

It is summertime. The barren period when there are no more sports on TV or games to attend. Everyone is trying to find ways to cope, mostly hope for the future after the last couple of years. Don't piss on our parade.

Caution has never been in an LSU fan's dictionary.

I still remember the optimism by us fans, for the future, starting the 2020 season. :banghead

How many National Championships has Jimbo won?
How many has BK won?
How many has Ed won?
what is Ed's record vs Jimbo?

Miles had his charms and I really liked his personality but I agree. Some things O and Miles did infuriated me. I can't even imagine LSU's ceiling with a coach who's clearly an X and O kind of guy. I don't care if he has the most boring personality ever if he wins that's all I care about. Will be the first real X and O guy we had since Saban.

I really do think LSU made the hire of Miles and Orgeron based on their personalities rather than their capabilities. You see it among the fanbase even on here some are more obsessed with a coach's personality than their ability to coach. From a marketing perspective for LSU, it probably made them money. Miles was one of the most followed personas in the country at LSU. He was great marketing for LSU regardless of his ability to coach.
