The offense played well for the first game against a top 5 team. If we keep improving we will be alright. Lee's numbers would have been alot better if a few more balls were held onto. And we looked real good in the red zone

The only play I didnt understand was the QB sneak on second and about 6 near goal line.

And I liked the mini version of the "hurry-up".

It looked like it had been practiced a lot. The players knew they were going to do it and executed those plays very well.

I also enjoyed seeing us throw to the TE several times.

Good post here, you also have to account the fact that receivers dropped 5-6 balls, J Lee would have had about 125-150 yds, All this team needs is a good game manager to be the best... As long as we stay healthy at RB and O Line we will be just fine!

Yeah, it was a bit strange. Not sure if that is a call Lee made at the line or what, possibly trying to surprise them.

We didn’t waste time outs because of delays in getting the plays in, delays in getting out of the huddle, confusion in alignment or delays in making reads and checking off.

This is where JL separates himself from JJ. Our RBs did just fine w/o JJ running right? JL's passing opened up the running game even though there were some incompletions there. A few more catches and a cheap holding penalty taken back and JL's stats look pretty damn good. The future is bright!

Great post.

Not to dig at Jefferson, but in the past it has seemed like the offense is more up-tempo and crisp with Lee in the game. The lack of formation, movement, and delay penalties was a great by-product of whatever changes have been made on the offensive side of the ball.

The one thing i liked most was the lack of "check with me" on every play. Im sure its because Lee is capable of making his own audibles.

I saw a little of that, but they were at the LOS in plenty of time which at least allowed the coaches to get plays in with plenty of time.

Loved how lsu always seemed to have 20 seconds for lee to adjust if he needed to.

Very refreshing

Yep. At times watching the 2010 offense was like listening to a Barack Obama speech. Downright painful to endure.

Thanks for establishing the tenor of this discussion. Far right. Anti-Jefferson. Anti-running QB. Appreciate that. Now it will be clear that it will be "Fair and Balanced".

No useless sacks and no running out of bounds 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage!

i look forward to the coaches letting Lee air it out against the cupcakes (i hope they do). The playing time and confidence building will be a huge asset when we hit the meat of the SEC sched.

It will be interesting to see if game management changes when JJ returns (delay of games, penalties, etc)

The lack of confusion was so great to see. I atribute this big time to the absence of GC's Chinese fire drill sub packages after every play.

I'm as happy as anyone that Crowton is gone, but this was more due to Miles trying to blend a power running game with a spread passing game. The best thing about the new offense is dumping this philosophy.

It was a crisp offensive performance. How many time have we said that over the last few years?
The O-line gave protection all night and for the most part JL made the correct reads. I think the drops can be corrected but oregons corners looked very good also. Tight arse coverage all night.

Kudos to the interior D-line. Forced everything outside and alot of third and longs.

The whole team exceeded expectations.

A great start.

With 8 men in the box???? 10-22 for 98 yards??? Amazing. Oh yeah, thats right it has already establish this conversation will be "Fair and Balanced".

Agree with OP. I'll take this offense all day. A few more touching up here and there and Lee's stats look WAY better. NO turnovers.

200 yards from 2 RB's when everyone knew we were going to run it is impressive!

We didn't look like a cluster frick out there!

Totally agree. JL was getting the play within 5 to 10 seconds and it seemed clear that his pre-snap reads were much simpler than whatever they were doing under GC.

Right. It looked just like the Cotton Bowl - a game not called by Crowton.
