They were willing to have traded their 1st, 2nd, and 4th round picks for Peterson and the cardinals said "No"

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports that the Lions tried to trade up to No. 5 in order to draft LSU corner Patrick Peterson. They offered the Cardinals their first, second and fourth-round picks. Obviously, the Cardinals rejected and took Peterson themselves.

According to the SEC Rant, next year's draft class is supposed to be turrible, part of the reason teams were so eager to trade up this year.

Thanks to the Cardinals for preventing world domination. Suh + Fairley + Peterson

Lions had an amazing draft regardless. Pairing Suh and Fairley is going to give everyone in the North a headache. Might even be better than the Williams Wall.

I give Fairley under 3 years in the League.

Even with Suh getting double teamed?

I didn't even think about that. Makes me wish it would have happened now, that would be an insane defense.

Lions would have traded the pick they used on Fairley in the Peterson trade.

Lions would not have gotten fairley had they drafted peterson....

I think they should be ecstatic. The probably will have one of the best interior DL's in the league taking some pressure off the putrid secondary.

Yea, their line is absolutely sick. Mediocre play out of the corners and they should fair well
