How many times will we say just “an off day shooting” before there are real shooting consistency concerns?

Hot shooting SEC teams & tournament teams may put a distance too great that a scrappy defense can’t claw its way back.

First game away from home in a small gym…..I wouldn’t put too much stock in our shooting figures tonight.

And finally we have a team that can overcome poor shooting nights.

Losing a scorer like Miller hurts but I feel like this team will find ways to win more often then not.

also wear teams out with our pressure/depth

This is not a good shooting team. But, they can still have a good offense if the work for good shots and take good shots. The shot selection tonight was the worst this year so far.

There’s no doubt that shooting is a concern for this team. But when you’re not turning the ball over, you’re rebounding, you’re playing good defense, you’re making free throws, etc., you can make up for it.

LSU shot 45% from the field, 36% from 3 and 85% from the line against Liberty. I don't consider that really an off night.

So, a problem every other team faces?

Hot shooting teams will win most nights. This team won’t make that an easy task.

what a dumb thread. LSU basketball is 6-0 for the first time in God knows when but 2 off shooting nights are a MAJOR issue! We only beat Liberty by 16! Fire Wade!!!!

With 5:30 mins left, LSU was losing to Liberty by 5 and shooting 24% from 3.

The D and the technical sparked a comeback and then LSU started hitting every shot, raising that %.

By far. Days took terrible shots. It has been so easy for them that I think they thought offense was a given.

They are great in transition though whipping it around with their athleticism and have been patient on offense up until tonight. And Days had been on fire, but has cooled off the last two games. Eason is the guy who can take over though when Days is off. Pinson also made some big plays during crunch time tonight for us.

So do we just not count the last 5:30 of that game? Because those numbers look aight to me?

There are definitely things to be addressed but it's too early in the season to be too worried.

The game is 40 minutes though. It counts just the same. I do think Murray needs to shoot more and Pinson/Gaines could drive to the hoop more since they are so fast and good free throw shooters when fouled. We still have some work with shooting, but it been a little better than I was expecting so far minus tonight.

It's not only his shot selection but his shooting motion. He's rushing it so bad. He's taking the ball and trying to get it up so quickly that his mechanics are suffering. I feel like he's trying to hard to live up to his hot start to the season. He'll get it figured out.

So it took until 5:30 left for LSU to get hot against Liberty, then into OT against a mediocre Penn St.

No concerns?

Well with Liberty.. while they had an off night shooting they eventually blew them out the gym. With Penn State, you played a game that had an excellent shooting night and had to continue fighting to win. It will happen. You will have those games. It's how you finish them will show what kind of team this will be.

Yes, his shots were super-rushed tonight and it wasn't necessary. He presses pretty hard when he doesn't start fast. He needs to be more patient.
