Agreed. But I said this last year before I decided everyone else was right about Les needing to go. Glad I didn't have to see any of those people again...

I expect the defense to be flying. If they score more than 17, I'd be shocked.

You can count on Guice alone for one TD and getting us in field goal position/set up to score at least twice. I'm thinking we can manufacture two other TD's at least among the rest of em.

They aren't a Wisconsin. That team was a pushover opener

Wisconsin would beat BYU almost every year.

BYU has black football players, but I have never seen a black morman on a bicycle...just 18-20 year old white dorks.

I'm pretty sure his ppint is that we were all VERY confident that we'd blow Wisconsin out last year only to eat crow after the game.

I personally believe we will beat BYU pretty badly but I also felt the same way a year ago when facing Wisky so my opinion obviously means very little.

I certainly didn't think we'd blow them out. Thought we'd win but didn't think we'd blow them out.

If you read this board during the offseason last year, you'd also know that very few rantards (myself included) shared your cautious optimism. Our fan base on this site was more in line with bullish arrogance.

And as history repeats itself, I find it hard to control my arrogance (and possibly ignorance) for LSU football and believe we beat BYU by 3 scores in September! Geaux Tigers!

Edit: the ignorance would be believing our players are better than they actually are. Seeing through purple and gold glasses, i often think some of our guys are stars when they are simply solid college football players.

They will need a tune up game before facing LSU to try to make it competitive. It will be a great chance to see how our youngsters are progressing.

BYU will end up getting pass happy and desperate which should give us a great look at our secondary. I sure don't see them running well on us with White and Co on the field.

I know that.

But in May of 2016 this board was talking about them like they were Louisiana College.

BYU is going to play us tough, they will muck it up on offense and will take the ball away a couple of times. We will win in an ugly 4th qtr pull away as we all blame it on growing pains of the new offense.

Exactly, everyone will act as if they were wary...but if they were, why was there such a melt on the loss?

BYU lost 4 games last year by a combined 8 points. They play tough, smart football. I'm not exactly scared, but this won't be a cakewalk.

And I said the same thing last year about Wisconsin, when so many on this board were predicting a blowout.

I do think we'll handle BYU, but I'm not expecting a 20 point blowout.

We will beat BYU by 10-13 points I think. We'll see more BYU fans in NRG than we saw Wisconsin fans there in 2014.

BYU was one of the more fortunate teams in the country last year. Their 9-4 record can be largely attributed to a mediocre schedule and a turnover margin of +12.

They lost Taysom Hill, but Tanner Mangum was more than capable in relief in 2015. I expect their QB play to be solid.

They lost their best offensive player to the NFL, running back Jamaal Williams.

Their run defense was pretty good last year, but they weren't really tested by any strong running games.

All in all, LSU will likely be a big favorite, and rightfully so.

Because it was the same exact putrid offense that we'd been promised again and again would change. I think a lot of people would have been a lot better with that loss if it gave them any kind of hope or optimism in Miles, Cameron, Harris, et al going forward. It did not.
