Our composite average without Teheuma and Allen represents the average score for our current starting 5. All other teams composite average is the average for their starting 5, so transfers are accounted for.
Put not counting attrition on other teams kills your first about how well we recruited before attrition.

Well, I’m not going to research the composite ranks for every OL every team signed the last 4 years and average them out. If someone else wants to do that then go for it, but I suspect LSU would be in the top 5 and maybe top 3 if you did.

If it makes you happy, ignore our rank with Teheuma and Allen. We are still the 6th most talented OL in the conference and we look like we’re one of the worst. Our problem is not recruiting.

That still stands, but it is our depth that is concerning. Biggest problem is missed assignments altogether. Maybe one of the backups isn't as strong but would at least put a body on his d-line assignment.

If recruiting services are accurate, LSU is actually 2nd in SEC in talent over the last four years. Moreover, LSU has lost less 4/5 stars than Alabama (who lost 15) and Auburn (who lost 25)

I don’t buy the depth argument, not at OL. Barring injury, you only play 5 OL. It’s not like DL where you rotate throughout a game.

people are missing the forest because of the trees. lsu has AT LEAST as much talent, on paper, as bama and uga but the results are COMPLETELY different. why? coaching.

you can't nitpick about a player playing out of position and then also say that recruiting rankings for position are not always accurate. if the latter is true, it means bama and uga are dealing with the same conditions as lsu; i.e. when the kid gets on campus, we have to find out how good he actually is and where he will actually play. bama and uga are making it work at a high level. lsu is not. lsu has had players move positions on the ol before and turn out fantastic. same for bama, et al. that's not happening now.

if you want to complain about how we got here, that's on the coaches too. there's no way around it.

and then there's the eyeball test - if you can't tell that the linemen are confused and not physical, then you're just being stubborn.

this team does not look good in all 3 phases of the game against subpar competition. the last 3 years i was no miles fan but, at least his teams could "turn it on" midway through the 4th quarter. we don't even have that now.

Nothing in the op or threads says that.

OL looks bad from very first snap and through 4 or 5 drives vs SU. Depth is just an excuse.

on the oline, that's exactly what the op proves. again, ceteris parabis, bama and uga have to deal with the same dynamics that lsu does. the difference is coaching.

Good analysis.
Now ask yourself if the Tackle position is more valuable than guards for a run first offense.
Secondly, go research the NFL salaries for GUARDS. NFL teams are pressuring more and more up the middle with stunts, etc. edge rushing is good, but getting the QB off their spot and throwing on the move is more and more the types of stunts being used today. Brady hates to be out of the pocket or on his butt. Last year the Texans stunted his arse in the middle and gave them fits without Watt because their backend was good with Bouye.
So those on here yelling about tackles are not following the trends as much as they think. I'm not saying the guard position has surpassed tackle for spending on %cap. All I'm saying is the gap has closed significantly.
NFL Salaries for guards signed in the last 2 years including Turner with the Panthers have really reflected the change in philosophy on importance for the position.

It’s just another excuse people are using to excuse Orgeron’s terrible start. Nothing more, nothing less.
