I know that would be ideal of course and what I and most of us wanted to see as far as making that choice. What’s more concerning to me is that I don’t have confidence that this D can get a stop when it ABSOLUTELY has to to have it. Which is all the more reason to try to get the one yard and not have the defense have to even go out there and fail.

Championship programs dont do that. You turn it over to what is supposedly your strength. Unfortunately, the d was strong against clemson, a&m, tech, and Mc. The d was bad against OM and KY. Both games they could not get a stop at the end of half or end of games, and against KY in OT and 2 pt. We had 7 pt lead, 3rd and 8, and we can't stop anyone in those situations. Either bad players, bad coaching, or a combo.

You have the players on that side of the ball too. Maybe not as deep as you’d like to be but the players to make the stops are there….until Baker moves them 8-10 yards downfield.

4th and 1 go for it when you are on the road. IMO

You make it great. You don't you have to live with it.

I don't understand it.

That’s the most frustrating part of it to me. We have guys that can make plays and do make plays the whole game and then when it’s like the clock is about to run out at end of halves and games, these players aren’t put in the proper positions to succeed minus the Keys whiff on the 3rd n 8 of course. But I see times where we blitz and it’s from a linebacker and it’s from so far that he just gets lost in the wash. When our blitzes look good is when we are all at the line and make their O Line have to decide how to block it. Now of course the other team can scheme and pick it up etc. but I’d rather that than just a halfway long blitz.

Tough to go for it when your OL has been manhandled all night in the run game.

I don't disagree but you still go for it there and try to close the game out.

The defense had 3 critical chances to make a stop which would have won this game. The TD to end the first half, the FG drive to end regulation, and the OT TD and 2 pt. Conversion. They failed every time. The great teams might give up one or two, but not every single one. Lane even went against his instincts to give the D a chance and they failed. The rest of the year, for better or worse, I hope he goes with his gut.

All 3 facets were flawed. Offense undisciplined and confused, and had to use gimmick plays to score. Punt teamt failed to come under control and missed the tackle, then lost containment on an easy-to-manage punt. Poor discipline and poor play calling on defense when faced with crucial downs and distance. I put it on coaching.

He just needs to be him. The conservative shite is something BK would do.

Lane is coaching like an old man instead of coaching like he has always coached.

Let it rip.
