If we had RGIII or someone like him, I believe we would be in that discussion
watching the stanford-nd game last week i was talking about what we'd do with luck at QB
RG3 would probably be better, with the option we like to sprinkle in

the problem is that against good-great Ds, we've shown that we simply can't throw it

This is just like the idiot gumps using the "eye" test to determine #2. We outgained LSU by blah blah blah. How about using the scoreboard to determine who is the best team? This is one of the most complete teams to ever suit up. Offense, Defense, Special teams. SWAG

2001 Miami would be the only team that i'd put above us.

This team is 13th in the country in scoring i believe...scoring 40+ pts in 9 games
What happens if we take out the special team and defensive TD's?
I don't know for sure how low that number goes down? Somebody got the time to do the math for us?

I don't understand the distinction. How can a team have the best resume ever, and NOT be one of the best teams ever? Seems impossible.

95 Nebraska is probably the team (in my lifetime) that was most impressive. But if this LSU team smokes their opponent in the BCSC game, you can probably add them to the conversation.

Here's another question are there any of the Nebraska teams on that great list?
Great defense
Solid special teams
Great offense but couldn't throw the ball to save their lives.
Does not being able to throw the ball take them out of the conversation?

it means that within our 1 year sample, we did the best against the competition we faced. doesn't mean that this team would beat another team with a lesser resume

i'll use an easy example from this year: who is the better team, UGA (with a better resume) or Boise (who beat UGA by a good margin)?

wouldn't this argument apply to 2011 LSU?

Remember the undefeated Patriots!
Just can all this "best ever" talk til after the next game.

Based on the NFL success of the players off the 01 Miami team, you have to put them over LSU. Only time will tell as we look back in a few years to see how great this LSU MAY be. They havent won the Title yet. 01 Miami was incredible in every phase of the game. Clinton Portis backed up by Gore and McGahee with Andre Johnson and Shockey catching passes. Wow!
But their resume was inferior to this LSU team's resume.

exactly the point
better resume doesn't mean better team

C'mon guys, I see where y'all are coming from but there can be no denying it if we throttle another top 3 team in the BCSCG. Greatest resume...yes, I agree unquestionably #1 all time.
But we are without a doubt in the conversation for GOAT. Not saying we're #1, but cetainly top 10 and maybe even top 5 which is more than enough for me. There are very few teams, if any, in the history of this sport that could beat this team. That is saying something.

I completely disagree. How do can you hav e the greratest season, but not one of the greatest teams? What are you basing this idea on exactly? What facts do you have? If we win our next game, this is one of the top 5 if not top 3 teams of all time. Proven on the field.
