Let’s just call “opting out” what it really is.

if you chose to opt out before the season started or after the ruling came out because you were worried about the virus or have some co-morbidities, or you had family that did, it’s totally fine that you opted out.
If you played 6 or 7 games And the season hasn’t gone like you hoped and choose to “opt out”, that shite is just quitting. You are just a quitter.

It’s quitting. If this team was in contention this wouldn’t happen.

Fans crucify other fans for not wanting to watch this shite show yet will defend players quitting on the team

"Opt out" only applies to players sitting out the year and planning to return next season. The NCAA made a rule allowing this with no loss of eligibility.
Otherwise you just quit, which has always been allowed.
Jamarr Chase did not opt out. He quit. Not saying it was the wrong decision or that he should be chastised for it. But he quit. It is what it is.
Nelson Jenkins, by all indications, opted out. Kary Vincent quit. Tyler Shelvin quit.

Quitting because the team sucks. You're absolutely right.

Or... we suck, can’t win anything this year and they want to ensure they makes millions.
You guys are out of your minds.

For using correct terminology?
"Opt out" has a very specific meaning, due to an NCAA rule to protect future eligibility.
Very few players nation wide have actually opted out.

Agreed. Although if you got covid/got hurt and opted out then maybe, but "opting out" due to the season going poorly is quitting.

Any player leaving the team at this point in the season is just quitting they are a selfish and not a team player

This 100%! The man’s mind hasn’t been wholly on the team all year. Why doesn’t he deserve some of the blame? We all blame Pelini, blame E and Linehan, blame the players everyone wants to call “soft” and “lazy”. But this guy basically took off the year as a head coach. Let’s just call it like it is. He sets the tone at the top. Players and assistant coaches quit caring half as much because he did too.

It’s very easy to call someone a quitter but put yourself in Marshall’s shoes. If you were guaranteed to be a top 50 or so pick in the draft and sign a contract in the $7-$12 million dollar range at the end of a season where there’s nothing meaningful to play for but you have everything to lose by getting hurt, what would you do? I wish he would finish too as fan but as a reasonable human being it’s easy to see why he would make this decision. He has nothing to gain and everything to lose. He showed last year was not a fluke by producing this year so what’s left for him to show scouts? If he were to tear his knee or Achilles or shoulder, etc in these last 3-4 games he could drop to the 3rd or 4th round and lose $5-$6 million dollars. Be realistic and think about what you would do with that kind of money on the line before you judge him or call him a quitter.

Pretty easy to spot the millennials in these threads. The ones defending this shite happening now.
