I’m telling you right now. Nothing can bond a group together more than hate for something. Let them hate us. I really don’t care. If it makes them play better then I’m all for it. Worked wonders for Miles teams in his prime.
This is true. It's always somewhat of a crapshoot of how and where it gets directed, but true nonetheless.

I don't mind the players reaction. I hate all interactions on social media because it seems the worst of the worst always rises to prominance, but it is what it is in today's world.

But if their reaction is to take it personally in the form of being challenged and not in the form of "bad person" or reflection on them as a human being, then yes- that reaction is appropriate because they are indeed being challenged to do better.

I'd rather them be insulted by the challenge because that means they give a shite. If they give a shite that means, hopefully, they take the challenge head on and do better.

Now, the defensive coaches have to give them the tools to do better. But that's a whole other subject that's in many other threads on this board.

Can someone explain why the players are getting a pass? I don’t have eyes on Pelini when they’re busting a 30 yard run, but everyone else is loafing or looking for someone else to make the tackle

Well man, it’s not that they get a pass entirely... see above reply about difference between discussion on a forum dedicated to LSU sports VS a kid’s personal Twitter account.

And it’s all relative — I’m all for accountability, but I have never and I mean NEVER seen an LSU defense look like this one did Saturday. At the end of the day, that falls on coaching.

You’ve seen it written 20 different places: “the whole appears to be less than the sum of its parts”. That is a coaching red flag man.

So, lots to unpack here but basically...
1) Don’t go attacking individual players personally on Twitter by tagging or tweeting directly at them

2) Accountability is there, but that’s the coaches’ job — not ours. We are very much entitled to criticizing the guys making the millions to put athletes in position to succeed... that makes more sense than going after the kids anyway.

The reality is 99.9% of our fans are looking at Bo Pelini (and perhaps a little suspicious side-eye on coach O for the lazy hire and defensive comments) after a historically bad start.

I'd take a look at the Score Board. A LOT of comments about individual players who are 18/19 years old (not sent directly to them of course, because of the nature of this board vs the tweeter).

How this board reacts to the school they are supposedly fans of, is pretty disgusting. It's not surprising... look at politics or anything else in this country. People have no ability to handle anything other than 100 percent successes.

Yeah, the players do need to block out the noise. Remember they aren't yet professionals. They will learn.

Reactions in real-time. People are being excessively obsessive if they’re actually going back to read that stuff.

Your point, however, is well-taken.

Clark and Stevens on Defense are an embarrassment to 18 & 7.
At least they play, unlike Curry a real 18...and Giles, another awesome 7.

Right. I didn't go back and read it... I was just commenting on my real-time observations of what was being said.

I know people get excited in the heat of the moment. I think it's proof that people can think, and people can immediately react, but people can not think while immediately reacting.

The account telling the LSU player “please transfer to Tulane” is unacceptable.

These guys getting offended by social media comments speak directly to the crap we've seen 2 out of 3 weeks on the field. SOFT and CONFUSED.

The players haven't been put in a good position to succeed this year, but we should at least expect effort. The effort for a TITLE DEFENSE has been nothing short of embarrassing. Not LSU football. At all.
