Actually the opposite. I think we are the best team in the country. Everyone is blaming Jay and other things but this is a glaring issue nobody seems to think about.

Where did I say we suck? Where am I melting? I said discuss. It’s a glaring issue that not one of yall have thought about. Stats don’t lie.

Based on what do you say this? This is objectively a bad base running team. And the outfielders routinely botch moderately difficult plays. My frame of reference spans two and a half decades of observation. This isn't something I just woke up this morning and decided.

And plain stats back up my statements about situational hitting with this team. There is enough talent on this team to cover up many of the issues. But there is no doubt this team struggles with a lot of the details. We've got two starters, and up until recently, two relievers who most of the year have carried us on the weekends, but we struggle on Sundays, and even in the games we win, because of everything I've mentioned. When we lose, it's always the same problems. base running errors, missed opportunities, botched outfield plays, and walks. It's almost never one thing, it's all of those things.

What stats? The only stats I’ve seen from you are reportedly from last year.

The lead off man per inning gets on base an average .325 the time in the NCAA. Last year LSU allowed .670 of the time.

Where did you get this?
out his arse. No way in hell LSU was twice as bad as the national average. That’s some SWAC level number if any team at all allows lead off runners more than 2/3 of the time.

That is the least accurate statement imaginable. OP doesn’t know ball if he saw that stat and believed it

and completely fabricated. I can’t believe anyone finds that plausible

LSU does not allow lead off runners 67% of the time over the course of a season, this year last year or any year. give me a break

Yeah that’s why I said “reportedly.” Maybe should have said “allegedly.”

I mean our opponents’ OB% last year was .330.

I said chat gpt. It also says lead off batters in 2024 batted .392 compared to .347 in sec ranking 12th. So that number may not be that far off.

Pretty funny copy and paste here.

quote:

This elevated leadoff batting average suggests that LSU pitchers have struggled to retire the first batter of an inning, potentially leading to increased scoring opportunities for opponents. While specific data for the 2025 season isn't readily available, unless substantial improvements have been made, this trend may have continued.

OK, sure.

I asked ChatGPT the same question. It gave me the same answer. Luckily ChatGPT sourced its answer. The .392 BA for leadoff hitters came from.. drumroll.. a TigerDroppings post. On April 6. Less than halfway through the season.

It couldn’t tell me the on base percentage for leadoff hitters against LSU last year. Whatever number you came up with (the entire premise of your thread) is bullshite.
