There were those too because they were tired of him and were bitter than someone would leave the great ND, but Kelly getting hired was extremely popular on here.
I will say though when he left ND they were 11-1 and still had an outside shot at the playoff, so they were more bitter than anything. He made ND relevant again. The only thing he didn't do was win an NC there and I'd be surprised if he wins one here either at this point.

Don’t speak so harshly of Miles.
If not for Saban at Alabama, Miles wins three or four more NC’s at LSU.
Brian Kelly is no where near as good as Les Miles!

Fair points about Ed O, but at the end of the day roster management and talent evaluation are two sides of the same coin.

That’s because most people only have rear view vision and aren’t visionary at all.
The man was 60+ years old when he was hired. I’m basically the same age as Kelly. Everyone I know my age (the vast majority very successful in their careers) are all retiring and slowing down. We all, regardless of any one wants to admit it, lose a step in our 60’s. It’s just reality.
You don’t ever, ever give a man 60+ a 10 year guaranteed contract. Ever!
It was a stupid hire then, and even dumber now.

It worked with Mulkey, but then again she came in with Natty’s. Kelley didn’t and at this rate never will. There’s a reason he hasn’t - he’s not that good.

There are always exceptions to the rule (Mulkey / Saban). But… they are rare exceptions.
In Mulkey’s case she’s from here. Had great connections here. Understood how Louisiana works. Kelly had no clue. That’s why he cleaned house with everyone with Louisiana connections when he was hired and brought in a crew with no ties. He’s been scrambling ever since. He was a bad fit here. It is what it is.

Divisions don’t even exist anymore & we are going to miss a 12-team playoff field
